What kinds are you looking for, meaties anyway?  I am supposed to be getting some Black Cornish soon, cant wait to see how that goes.  Supposed to grow a lot faster, but can free range, and all.  I am excited about it!

Ok folks, I made it through my first "culling".       Not as bad as I was afraid.  I did not use the axe.  Jennifer did one totally and showed me in depth what to do.  The second one she got the head and I skinned it.  I didn't have as much stamina as I need because I've been sick the past week or so and had 5 vials of blood drawn before going over to Jennifers.    But it looked respectable when I finished with help.  ha   My utmost thanks to Jen for being so patient with her training.  Terrific girl.

Sorry I took so long to get back on line! I have been to several doctors and going through a lot of tests at the hospital and labs. Every week it has been 2 or 3 days there and then really sore and out of it the following day. Plus dealing with Medicare and paperwork and Fema losing my Road home grant files from 2005! Every thing happening at once and a lot of sedation and trying a bunch of new meds have me really feeling bad. Thanks for your concerns and I will explain everything tomorrow, but right now I have meds for sleep, shutting me down for the night, so until tomorrow, bye for now and thanks for your concern! I didn't think I would be missed or that I have such caring friends! I AM TRUELY BLESSED!!!!!

Wow! I asked my husband what culling meant and he told me thinning out the flock. In my mind that meant giving some away.

Bahahahahaha. I totally understand the thinking. My first thought on getting into chickens, "Do I need a rooster for eggs" That's how dumb I was.

I think I am always going to be learning more all the time about chickens and chicken keeping. My husband was talking to an old guy the other day that has had chickens for forever! They were discussing if you could tell if the egg was fertile if it had a blood spot when you cracked the egg

I was like, no. That has nothing to do with it. He is still learning too. Even though we have had chickens for about 9 or 10 yrs.......something like that.

Craked nut I went to wholefoods while I was in metarie. I couldn't remenber what the name of the tea you were telling me about only that it started with a P and was on sale for 6.00. Well only two brands with a p neither on sale anymore. Was it in a box or a round glass container. Pam
