I don't know how that happened. But I guess I will have to Momma them when they get here!

He was the enabler!!!!! I blame him, lol

Most of them are for meat, for his "meat breeding program", lol. I really do like his ideas though. So we got 2 colors of Wyandottes, 2 colors of Plymouth Rocks and 2 colors of Standard Cornish. To make up the extra chicks (since I had to meet the minimum order) I ordered a few Cornish X for the freezer and for eggs and fun, a few Golden Polish hens. The girls saw pics of the Polish on Google the other day and were in love.

If for any reason he doesn't like how one of the heavy hens is turning out we can butcher and use it for the freezer since they are dual purpose.

Someday I won't be in a subD though.  We cannot wait!  Waiting on hubby to finish schooling etc before we move.  I cannot wait!  We can use the mean time for planning

I have the same dream. I look all the time but just a dream right now. But I can't buy in the city unless the house is on at least an acre. I'm not supposed to have any chickens in the subd, but not only am I in violation of subd rules, I'm violating city ordinance with 5 chickens on less than an acre. What is wrong with the anti chicken attitudes? And I want MORE and MORE. I very innocently did not understand what was about to happen to me when I went inside that feed store to get my granddaughter a little chicky.

Chickens are allowed here. But I never have checked what the limits are. I know of 3 ppl within a mile of us that have chickens. One has a rooster in the back of our sub. I can hear him. I just worry that if I have a roo that's a loud one that it will bother neighbors and maybe they would complain. I don't like to bother people.

When we move I will happily have breed specific coops/pens. I would love to be NPIP cert and then we could hatch chicks and sell eggs. So doing research now and logging away info. Hubby is doing paperwork to register for Officer Candidate School and if he does that and gets a commission that would really help us to be able to move. With me not able to work we depend on him. He is a real life hero

He has wanted to move as well for many years and has been working so hard for it.

It will all work out it just takes time. I have gold laced Wyandottes they are sweet with beautiful coloring. To fill my order to minim I ordered blue laced red Wyandottes. Now if it would warm up so they would ship. Pam
