"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have travel boxes for bar soap I got at $1 store. Lil rectangle that soap goes into and doesn't get wet so stays in tact. I used them at camp as a kid...they are great soap protectors with label area often for name -of soap! Keeps the unused bar from melting away :)
I have problem. I have two bars of Lemon's soap already in the shower(3 if you add my hubby's bar) that have a whole lotta uses left in them, but I want to try another kind already.......

:lau Yes! More chickies $ lol

One of my aunts by marriage up north was baiting me into a drawn out "haha" by telling me my super duper eggs I was egg-cited about were same as her store eggs but least they are free :thu
Biggest lie ever...free eggs :gig

A customer that just bought chickens saw the blue eggs and asked if we were collecting robin eggs. Hehe I told her they're same as other eggs - only blue shelled. She paid $3 for SIX (all that was in box) I didn't want to do it :lau they were mine, but $3?! Ok! Lol
Nothing wrong with pinching pennys. That way you have money for more chickens!!!!Lol!!!!!

Plucking can be done by hand, this machine is not necessary. Bit the pot if scalding water behind it is VERY helpful.

Can anyone share with me the equipment they use when processing meat chickens ( for slaughtering and plucking)?

The rod with a handle is a knife sharpener and the stick with loop of teeth is a lung scraper. The lung scraper is also not needed. We popped lungs out quite easily with fingers the first time but they are lil tricky and this scraper sorta grabs them quicker. We are planning on working our way up to some big numbers and decided to get the EZplucker and scraper and a few other non needed items for the convenience and quickness. We are newbs at this ourselves and jumped in. There's a lot all the research in the world can't tell you lol I should make a list of the stuff people didn't tell others in their wonderful blogs and research papers and books :gig
Post death leaving the scene...headless/plucked they still can cluck...when processing mature hens they have a few yolks and whites ready to be shelled inside and are very much edible! But scary to see at 1st lol...
what are the tools you have to the far left in pic with scissors/knives and what are they used for plz

We talk about being frugal on here sometimes. Here's something I always do and can't seem to stop. If I have tubes of makeup or cream (no toothpaste bec I have one of those roller things that squeezes all the toothpaste out) when I get where I can't squeeze any more out, I turn it upside down to let every bit possible flow to the top.

When I can't get any more that way, I cut a big capital "I", one long vertical cut with horizontal cuts on each end. I can get the rest out. And if there is too much left for one use, and there usually is, I put the cut tube in a zip lock I keep in my bathroom so it won't dry out. I usually get at least a week more by doing this. I just can't stand to buy something and leave a week in it when I throw the tube away.

I just can't throw away something I would otherwise use that I paid for. Now that is being frugal. Lol. If it sounds too weird, just find me a referral to a good therapist. Lol

So glad to know that I"m not the only one who does that. I thought I was the only person like that. I do the same thing! :D I do the same thing with toothpaste. Although I do roll it from the bottom up, I still have to cut the tube and scrape the inside with my toothbrush to get the last of the crumbs.

Not weird at all. Great way to save money.

I have always wanted to know how much people waste each year by throwing away those bottles that still have stuff in it.

Hey guys, its been a while since I last posted! I have a little sister who is interested in getting three or four hens to raise from hatch for fun. We are near the Baton Rouge area and are willing to drive about an hour out of the way, or two hour round trip (though I can be persuaded to travel a little farther). I was wondering if any of you are selling pure bred, nice quality hatching eggs or newly hatched chicks. She isn't sure what breed she wants, but I told her I'd see what was nearby and we'd go from there. I'm looking for a quiet, docile bird for a ten year old. Bantams or LF are fine, and so are different breeds. I'd personally like a dark brown egg layer and a blue/green egg layer for her, but it isn't very important. Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome back.

I don't think that my Tom Turkey will walk again. He has been sitting down since Friday. I will give him a few days and if there is no progress, I will have to put him down. His legs or feet or hip could be broke, injured or something more, which is why he an't walk. I don't know but I can't see him just sitting in one spot for the rest of his life. That is not the quality of life that I want for my animals. If I have to put him down, then he will be going in the freezer. He feels like he weighs about 50 lbs if not more. I"m getting upset all over again just thinking about what happened with that dog.
