Beautiful turkey hens. Do you just keep them because you like them? Or are you planning on breeding so you can have turkey dinners?

Yeah, I have them because I wanted to hatch turkeys and I like them. From the time I set the eggs I promised my hubby (who is not the biggest turkey fan from childhood viscous tom trauma) that if they ever went mean they could go straight to the table but they are perfectly nice and all hens so I don't foresee having to eat 'em. I'll just eat the eggs when they start laying. I hatched them and the same time just about as the peafowl so they are attached to each other.

The turkeys I raised, all of them turned out to be hens, are perfectly sweet. They are a bunch of greedy hams. Question, when do turkeys start to lay?

Oh dang, Bugglesmommy!! Now I want turkey hens!! I never thought about wanting turkeys before!!! They are so beautiful.

Not sure what we have. One looks like RIR one is white with some black trim other two look like twins brown and white. Mom and I were rooked into chickens by daughter and son in law. Bought them year ago at TSC. But we enjoy them.

My granddaughter wanted to get in the yard with the bunnies today. We use the potable corral and lock up the dogs and never leave them alone. For a little while she slept. Lol.

I was wondering about them being different breeds they all look different. Pam

There is a royal palm and the other 2 I hatched from a breeder that supposedly only has slate blue turkeys. Marge is obviously a slate but Pat has always been different from the beginning and the breeder claimed to never having hatched one like her from her turkeys so I've wondered if a wild tom came a calling? Baby pic of the two. Pat on the left:
