"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I agree! They are absolutely adorable, and I'm surprised at how fast they are growing. I know Pekins are a meat breed, but it seems they grow noticeably bigger every day!

And I'm glad to hear that! They go through SO much food and water, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overfeeding them. They're very content ducklings, and scream at me and crowd me for food whenever they see me. :) I think I'm just so used to chickens, that the duckling 'squish' surprised me. They feel like little water balloons compared to chickens.

One of them, whom I named Dewey, does have a crooked head, but I bought him from Tractor Supply like that. I've been supplementing niacin, and the severity of it isn't as bad anymore. You can see him in a few photos with his head tilted. Also, their voices are starting to change. So far, it sounds like I only have one duck and three drakes.

Hopefully a couple more are just late bloomers. Either way, I'll definitely be getting more ducklings in the future.

For more adorable-ness, here they are when I first got them (We did sadly lose one a week ago to a predator):

Just when I think I've heard it all! ... Well I didn't have any natural ones for her that day,. or any day... I like the sound too,.. and thankfully .. so do my neighbors. Poor roos,. that must be an awful life ,. not to crow.

Hey Kuntrygirl!... Yeah we're doing Ok,.. feeding chickens and planting and paying taxes and living life.. just come and lurk around now and then to see how ya'll are and catch up .. Brian got called back out again ,. to Afghanistan this time.. so Olivia and I are just holding down the fort so to speak till he gets back.. thought of you the other day when we drove out your way on the way to Mamou to see his family! I see you're busy as ever and working hard!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That looks like a greeting card !!!!!!!!!! LOOK HOW CUTE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :love You are going to have so much fun with them. I saw that TSC had some crested ducks (the ones with the afros) LOL. I was soooooo close to buying some crested ducklings. Keep those duckling pics coming. I love seeing those babies.

I saw the CUTEST, MOST ADORABLE monkey this evening. This lady was giving away a cage and I went over to her house to get it and saw that she has a pet money. I didn't have my camera on me to take a pic of the monkey so that you all could see. This mini monkey was SOOOOOOOOOOO cute. Her name is Annie. She lives in a big cage inside and has heat lamps on her all day. She is 8 years old and makes the highest pitch sound you would ever want to hear. I am waiting on the lady to send me a pic of Annie but in the meantime, I found a pic of what type of monkey Annie is. She is a marmaoset monkey and looks something like the monkey in this picture. I didn't realize there were some monkeys that were that small.

And here is a pic of the cage she gave me along with something else. Not sure what it is but it looks like something that you can put baby clothes in for storage.

The cage is a cage that her monkey was in. I will have to THOROUGHLY wash it multiple times before I can use it. And I really don't know what to use it for.

Turn it on it's back and make a brooder out of it. You could put the trays on the bottom. It even has lift up top doors. See, perfect.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bow

I'd use it in a heartbeat.   Enjoy

That's what I will do. Because it was so tall, I wasn't sure. I didn't think I could use it to put chicks in for any period of time because there was not room to walk around. But the idea of laying it down and using it as a brooder is perfect. I will clean it up real well this weekend and prepare for my next batch of babies. :D

When it's ready take a picture and add it to the Brooders thread.
