"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Never heard of that one.  Very strange.  And how would a chicken live without a beak anyway???  They can't grow it back, right?

I had a chick that was injured pretty badly and nearly her entire top beak was broken off. She had a tough time eating for a while (I had to put her food in a deep dish) but the darned thing grew back completely. I was amazed.

Thank you Pam. I didn't know about the morphine. He has trouble getting up and down and walking and he moans a lot. Is it possible he could die at home or is he doomed to be moved somewhere? I have no experience with this, but he does. His father died of cancer. He knows what is going to happen. He shares little bits with me.

He can die at home if someone can be their. Does he have hospice set up yet? Sometimes if no one can stay with him they may want to move him to a hospice house . I think they go peacefully if there able to stay at home. Pam

I have had a few chickens get their beaks with big chips that has grown back. But never have had a chicken with its beak fall completely off like they described in that post that was linked.

There are some strange problems posted lately. A few weeks ago there was a mass of people that were having chicks and adults toes just falling off with no sign of injury, infection, or mites. I don't think anyone figured those out either.

We went yesterday. Enjoyed seeing all the tiny bantams. It was nice to have a 1/2 break, with the family, from the rat race!
