"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have only gotten small eggs from one of my birds. The rest of the bantam hens I check for prolapse often because I can't believe the xl eggs they produce. Keep in mind mine are bantam production reds. The one with the small blue eggs also only lays once every three days.

My Amercaunasas lay a lot of eggs, but the eggs are definately smaller, notably smaller compared to my RIR and Black Stars.

It'll be a year or two still, we got a late start at it, we are blue collar peeps who are trying to farm our way into retirement. Land buying/home buying all new to us...scary and exciting but feels like forever to get there! I am proud of each of you. We did it backwards sorta, but we do know what we like and don't like to raise or grow or butcher, how to do things , how to build things ourselves and are building a customer base now for when we make the plunge and buy our slice of heaven!

I have proven grandparent skills and if I get in the country I will have a horse, mini donkey and goat. Of course, like you guys said, I need to get to the country myself and clearly if that can ever happen, you guys will influence the move. I wish we could all live together in a huge compound on mega acres. That's what we need to do.

I guess it depends on breed . I'm starting dinner after I'll post pics of breeds and eggs.:idunno

Make our own prepper compound. I like that! Pam

My Amercauna lay a smaller egg than my EE. The EE (Edna) lay a beautiful, large green egg. I think I will probably get EE's next time over another Amercauna. Though, LouLou (Amercauna) is a personality.

Seriously...good idea.

Tons of jokes aside having at minimum a network of skilled people (skilled in what we all do ) , meeting areas, or safe havens with stashed if communications are lost, can save lives if disaster events and such occur. Just sayin. :)

Off my soapbox now :lau

Okay now, WHY can't I hAVE ANGEL? cAN'T LEAVE US NORTHERN FREAKS OUT JUST CAUSE IT'S GEOGRAPHICALLY higher! LOL Besides, I have 5 kids.... and DOug has 3. TONS to play with!

I have raised Bantams almost 4 years now, NOT Production Reds, but Sebrights, Booted, and Dutch, and all of their eggs are small, actually, when people buy jars labeled "PICKLED QUAIL EGGS" VERY SLEDOM ARE THEY ACTUALLY FROM A QUAIL, BUT ARE USUALLY from a Bantam hen. Legally they can do that since the eggs are the same size and the law for EXACT product description for jarred pickled eggs hasn't been changed since the 30's. If you have large eggs, your lucky! Mine are less than half the size of my EE's.
NOW, I want Production Red Bantams!!!!
