"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Thank God! That is wonderful news. I had to take prednisone during both of my pregnancies. That stuff if terrible! Poor guy. Such a relief to have some answers.

Please know that I am willing to donate any extra weight he may want. I am being selfless...

Believe me, I have about 50 pounds I'd LOVE to give him!

I think I have made some progress with the interrogation of my younger and older hens. During the last two days, I would come home for lunch and see that the 2 older hens were not letting the 3 younger hens out of the coop to eat or drink. So..... I took the two older hens, put them in the coop, shut the door and went to work for five more hours. When I get back I open the chicken coop up and let the older hens come back out. Today they have stopped chasing the younger ones around and let them peck and scratch in the same area.

I guess they just needed a time out?

Timeouts work for mine!

Just wondering. Do you keep all of the different size birds in the same pen or do you have them separated? I'm trying to figure out how to accommodate my bantams but I only have 3 and was considering putting them in with the others just kind of scared to because of them being so much smaller.
I prefer them. Less space and feed required for the same size eggs. The downside to them is the fact that they are easier to carry off by hawks. I have banties, full size, and giants.

Oh no!!!! We're talking about "compounds"! "They" are going to start monitoring us! LOL

I would put them together myself, when i was in my teens, we had RIR,DOM,WR, my Bantam hatched several broods of chicks and they were in the same pen as the big hens, never had a problem

My chickens are 7 wks old and getting big. The largest are the Golden comets (6) and they are territorial. They will not accept youngsters in the coop. When I get more I think I'll have to have another coop.

That's very sweet but the predictions are no hurricanes this year.
