Very cool! Reminds me of the light house camps on lake pontchatrain and chathren.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but, hi ya'll! I am in Ponchatoula and joined yesterday. I've already seen so many interesting posts...could easily spend all day just browsing. Cool beans! Have a great day!
I have 6 red sex link hens, 4 rhode island red hens, 4 silver Wyandotte hens, 2 americana hens, a white rock roo and 5 turkeys. So, currently, I'm only able to make mutt chickens! Maybe one day I'll take the pure bred plunge. Thanks for the welcome!

Glad you joined us! Truth be told we have no topic on this thread just throw everything out there, we talk about it all. You don't want to miss a day or you will spend forever catching up on everything. (We are the second most active state thread on here, right behind Wisconsin.) Only one of us is allowed the name cracked nut but we all deserve it. Right now the thread is a little slow because of all the work we have to do. Chicken math has hit many of us hard so caring for little ones, rebuilding coops and shelters, harvesting, and canning are taking up a lot of time. It'll get busy again soon. I prefer mutts they come in so many beautiful designs.

Edit to add: At the top right of your page click on profile. Then scroll down on the left and hit ovations. Some people leave comments on your ovations and on this thread they can be funnier then any post.

Those are so beautiful!!!
Thanks, Prim. They are from the roo I got from you! They are for sale by the way. Forgot to mention that. That's the main reason I posted all the pics. 7 chicks. Come get them and if you'd like, make a donation for the food. I really don't have the room for them. 41 chickens is just too much for a subdivision. We will be going to the swap at the TSC in July with some seramas and these if they are not sold as fluffy butts.

I bought 3 silver laced Wyandott's turns out one's a roo. Now I have two they all grew up together will they fight as they get older? Here's pics

I was letting my flock meet the new australorps one tried to establish pecking order when the two roo's weren't having it they weren't letting their hen get pecked they both bode up neck feathers out. I stepped in and it stopped . At what age do they start crowing?

I love it! Looks like you have great ventilation for the summer. Remember to open those windows, it gets horribly hot here.

X2. Love your coop. Wish I could build like that and like Pam's DH. I bought plans to build one with a porch so hoping can build fancier with plans instead of my aimless style.
Don't know if you have gone through a summer with your chickens, it's brutal. I think I have it down now, but took a couple if summers scrambling everyday to make changes to relieve their heat suffering. I've tried kiddie pools and misters, fans and frozen bottles and always adjusting coops for maximum ventilation. Lots easier to protect them from the cold. One suggestion that, if possible, can you move it under a big tree and position for max breeze (although in August there is no breeze, just oppressive).
