"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I love the sound of that. Is there a recipe? I hope my figs will produce by next year. I have never canned either, it is time. Lol
I think I have just subbed out for a different recipe. I still haven't had the chance to look yet. Been working and canning Peach Rum sauce right now.

Hahaha. I thought I was the only one who can identify projects by the blood splats in the garage.
Its kind of a running joke now with the hubby, that project isn't done until he has put some blood on it, lol.

Jennifer gave me a jar of fig and pear (I think) jam. So delish. When you process the figs do you do it before cooking?

I just put the clean, de stemmed fresh figs in the food processor and give them a few whirls. I leave them a bit chunky. Its just so much faster that way instead of hand chopping. Then I combine with the other ingredients in the recipe and continue from there.

Made fried green tomatoes. Fried with fresh cayenne/ fresh basil/garlic/dill infused oil and coated in today's eggs, dipped in flour/lemon zest/cornstarch mix. Amazing. I need more :th never had them. Mmmmmm

Those look good. here is a easy bread and butter pickels.
4 Quarts sliced cucmbers med sized
6 med onions recipe says white sliced. I use vidallia because they are in season and sweet
2 green peppers sliced 12/3 cups
3 garlic cloves
1/3 cup pickling salt
8 cups sugar
3 cups apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoon tumeric
1 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
2 tablespoons mustard seed
Combine cucumbers, onion peppers garlic mix add salt, cover with ice mix thoroughly let stand for 3 hours, drain well remove garlic I left it in. Compine the rest of ingreadents pour over cucumber mixture. Bring to boil. Fill hot jars leaving 1/2 inch air space put lids on put in boiling water that comes up half way or less for 5 min. then put on counter to cool. the important part is keepig rim of jar clean before adding lid. so if you get juice etc. on it clean it off beefore adding lid.

What breed?

Any kind really. I'm not looking for any white, but if that's all there is around me then beggars can't be choosers. I'm looking for three-four depending on the price. I'm not sure if they are laying this time of year or not, but I'm willing to wait a little while.
