"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ya, mine wait in line, if an egg from the back of the line is gonna drop tho...they'll pile right up on one another :gig and even if everyone had a nest...they'd wait in line or pile in :lau

Red hen in this video was the Boss...the EE was bottom of the order

That was so interesting yet so funny to watch!

Processed rabbits today. Learned how, did half of them all by myself and hubby did other half. He's quicker and storms were rolling in :gig
Soooooo easy, clean and quick compared to chickens, I wish we had done rabbits earlier!

Processed 8 total.
12 week-16week old bucks.
Live 4.5lbs-6.5lbs
Dressed 2.5lbs-3.5lbs.
Beautiful meat.

6 of those are a customers and 2 we did for us :) they are resting in fridge now.
I LOVE knowing we have high quality, healthy meat available that WE grew and processed. I know each rabbit and it pleases me more than I thought it would that they pay for themselves in a short time and also provide a staple the family needs in the freezer.

Pam and Cracked, I am so sad about your losses. I can't imagine how difficult that must be. Pam, what do you think could have broken her neck?

Tomorrow I'm meeting the hedgehog breeder in BR and transporting them to just beyond Lafayette where they'll pick them up. I have timed it so I can go on to Kuntrygirl's house before returning to BR.

Now that all of my girls use the bar, they have a lot less space inside the coop to sleep. They still have room left, but they are still growing. I'm going to learn how to build my own so that I can make a bigger one. Any suggestions? Helpful things I should add to it? My husband rolled his eyes when I told him because he suspects I will make him do all of it, so I have to do it now! Lol, I have to prove I can do it! I've never built anything in my life.

This is the tragic part of the story. The Rooster I caught him one morning trying to mate with her he was so rough for her being 1/3 his size. When they grab them by the comb or head they pull up it makes the hen fold her feathers back so they can expose where the Roo puts his sperm. Well with him on her back his feet covered her whole back so no matter how hard he pulled she couldn't fold her feathers back. Two days ago I saw him do that she was screaming in pain. I rushed in and knocked him off and saved her. I put her in a coop alone that night. She was injuried but seemed to be on the mend. Well the next night I told Ron I didn't want her in the coop with any rooster. Well he didn't follow trough. So last night I could tell she felt beat up her wing was injuried so I brought her inside. she slept inside looked ok but was moving slow. Ron brought her outside he was running electric to the coop she was right there by him. He came in and went back out he said she was standing then just fell over he picked her up he said she had a spasm by the time he brought her inside she was dieing she died in his hand. I think the roo took the oppertunity when he came inside. It would be like a full size rooster mating a chick she was that small.Text me with whatever you find out about Julie. Be carefull on your trip tomorrow. Pam
