"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

They're actually all hens! There was a lot of doubt at first because of their giant combs, but I've gotten eggs from each of them.

That's so neat about the eyes. These were auction birds and we were late, so didn't get a good look at them beforehand. And there were 48; they were going for $15-18 a piece. We got ours for $11. We bid on three and were charged for three, but there were four in the cage. I tried to say something but was totally ignored, so their loss my gain. The whole thing made me feel a little weird, because they looked and acted like battery hens.

But like I said before, they're super friendly and tame. And their eggs are lovely. They are thriving in the sunshine and just need a good molt to get some nice, healthy feathers in.

If your happy that's all that matters I would have sworn it was a rooster! They have a good home that all that matters and regardless of defects all eggs taste the same. I have a poor little Ameraucaca with a deformed wing, not genetic but nonetheless, he's not going anywhere so I do understand . I've got a ton of cockerels I'm having trouble deciding which to keep too. There all neat with different personalities .

I'm glad your ended up with all hens!!!

We are getting a steady 25 eggs a day now, our egg outlet is asking for 12+ dzn a week, they have been getting 10, so i think we can do it and still have eggs for personal use, i still have about 30 more that haven't started laying yet, our sales now pay for all feed and supplys for all the chickens plus we have all the eggs we can use, things are starting to come together.

It's been a very good day. My fellow came and about finished the coop. Looks great. When I get paid again I'll have him finish with hardware cloth and a pop door and put me a fenced area for them to have a nice size run. AND he did me 2 of the 5 gallon buckets with horizontal nipples. I'm not going to set them up until tomorrow. Also did me a small one for the brooder. I'm so happy today. This is a 12' x 12' A frame with 4' on sides and 6' tall in the middle No problem with me getting in and out. I hope to get pics soon. It has 4 nesting boxes and will have the roost added next month. I don't even have chickens to go into it yet. But with lumber and wire etc plus labor my cost was about $240. That's with the hardware cloth. He did it cheap for me and realized that people will pay hundreds more. I'll help him get more customers.
