"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I can't remember the last time I saw rain like we had Sunday, and at 7 am I was up dragging big pieces of tin out of the woods to put over the run so they didn't drown. And today after watching the wind cut through the yard I decided that I need to add a solid wall to the run. These chickens may end up living in a log cabin by the end of the winter. :lau

Don't ask me how the tin got into the woods, because that's just a mystery. It doesn't match any of the other buildings here, so it's gotta be old. Like I tell the kids: The forest is full of treasures.

I'm supposed to be getting Olive eggers, Isbar, Black Copper Marans or Blue Marans. I can't wait!

I SO wish we could go to the BR show, but can't make it. Especially since if I did I could pick up a pair of bantam Cochin's that we want for my daughters 4-H project. We will figure it out one way or the other though.

That is exactly the mix of birds I want to get! And include the cream Legbars too!when I got my chickens I was told I had 3 blue marans and a black Maran, but one of the blue gal's comb is not right and the black Maran I think is an australorpe. I have gotten one blue/Green egg but as far as I know none of them have laid for me yet. We shall see! Very happy for you!

I can't believe how far behind I am. Been so busy. Just heard they are having a big time poultry show at LSU this Saturday. Here is the link. http://www.gcpfa.com
I am hoping to see some BYCers there. I'll be there at about 1:30. Let me know if you'll be there so we can meet up. I'll send texts out to the ones I have.
So happy about your girls laying, Kimmie, and how much fun your little girl is having. Camping, glad yours are doing better. Latest I heard from Pam on BugglesMom's little baby is that they are still running tests and she will have a MRI. I will be getting my first Azure shipment Wednesday. I'm excited but have to be at the drop off at 7:50 am. Hahaha. Since retirement early isn't my thing. Got the chickens and bunnies winterized, no drafts, deep litter. I think they will be fine. They are a raggedy crew. Prim only has one lone tail feather and looks comical. But, the Amercaunas are growing their beards back. Yea!! They had been beardless since the boss girl are their beard feathers last summer. The Amercaunas are so squirrelly anyway, but during molt they only want to be in a small separate coop together. It works out.

This is who I have the eggs coming from. Hopefully we have success with them.

In other news my husband said we may have to sell a kid to pay for chickens. Haha! And we had chicken for dinner

I'll be there with my crew! Husband, two boys, 3 month old daughter, and my in laws are all headed up! I think it will be fun! Let me know if you want to meet up, we are planning to do lunch someplace in Baton Rouge, probably after the show if we can get moving early enough (much harder to do with a little one and all the chores :) ).

Glad your Ameraucanas are getting their feathers back! Seems they will need them with this yucky cold weather. I hope you take pictures of birds at the show! I would love to see them.

I have cream legbars their eggs are green or blue. They are darker than easter egger eggs. They start out the size of amercuna eggs but get bigger as they get older. If you bought them from a hatchery they are most likely easter eggers. If thats the case if the egg has more pigment its from the legbar. If the egg was laid at 6 months or older its the legbar. The easter eggers lay eariler. If you want CCL and don't have them I will have hatching eggs or chicks soon. I'll be gone tomorrow I have australorpes if you want to post a pic we can help you identify it. or I can post a pic for you. Pam
