"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I want to wish everyone a Happy T-Day tomorrow.

Also for the folks in the SE part of the state there is a cabinet incubator listed on Craigslist in Paulina. I don't know if I can post a link here or not. I think it's homemade but looks very well made. It's listed as a Del-Bator, has turner, hatching trays and drawer. Could be worth checking out.

I saw that one on there. I built mine way cheaper lol. Thats the same one I sent link showin to topdog

SO true! Here I am, still 2 weeks to go w/my RIRs in the bator, & now - thanks to the "enablers" I'm just dying to start some FCBM eggs. And my others haven't even hatched yet!
The last time I got like this, I ended up with 40-something chickens before I knew what had happened.

Oh & I want some Bielefelders. And some Cream Legbars. And some Coronation Sussex. And,, and,,, you get the picture.

Hatching this time of year is good, because when spring & warmer weather gets here, you'll have them ready to start laying!

Oh & this time my extra roos WILL go to "freezer camp".

After these hatch both my incubator and hatcher will be empty :-( and it may be as hard to quit as smokin. Today makes 10 wks smoke free. There are few more breeds I want too.

Morning all, beautiful day out. Cold but clear. I think I messed up with the Cobb 500 birds I rescued. 8 hens and 1 rooster. They came from a farm that sells eggs to Brookshires. In their big house they were trickled down feed a few times a day. I however have been socking fermented feed to them 2x a day. It looks like they have gained over a pound or more in 10 days. Remember they are 14 months old so they are grown and won't get knee troubles like CX's (Babies) But it may be that I'll not get so many eggs. I'm getting 2 one day and 4 the next. Not fertilized because I don't think the hens allow the rooster anywhere near their presence. I may cull him. Over 10 lbs. I've backed off the feed a little. But, my gosh, they have come along so well. Marla said they would run from me and not want to go out. HAH. Typical CX's. Swarm me when I come and talk to me I love it. I think I'll turn my new Blosl White Rock rooster in with them to show them how it's done. I'm getting him next week and he's all MAN. I think I'll save the Cobb rooster and after Big Boy is through with the hens I'll move him to the new cage and put the Cobb back in.

I think that Lady Japan, my EE must have heard about my possible AX plan. This perfect egg from her was waiting for us when we went to the barn this morning.

I am already getting anxious for hatch day. Yes, I've already already candled. I figure the broody gets up at least once a day. My incubator recovers temp pretty fast. I'm not too disappointed. Some fertile from each group. :thumbsup
