Hey WC welcome to the La-yers thread, if you haven't been welcomed before. Have you tried William Smith? If he doesn't have any he may have an idea who does. If you look back a few pages I linked pages on Facebook that pertain to Louisiana and poultry. He is on quite a few of those pages. I've messaged him before and he was very nice to talk to. I do have a few whites, but nothing to sell at the moment. We are working on them though. I know there has to be more quality breeders than I know of. The only ones I know of that I really like their birds Sherri Sugarfields and Dennis Wollard. They both have black and he has buff also.

Thanks for the tip!

Selena just died in my arms. She convulsed and poop shot out and vomit and she was dead.

Oh, no, Prim! I am so sorry to hear you lost Selena. I will be setting a few Basque, white Bresse and Olandsk Dwarf eggs to check fertility. I may even have a couple of BLRWs to add. You are welcome to any fluffy butt that hatches!

OK... my tally is:
4 Assorted Bantams
& 1 Black Cochin out of 15ish eggs. Yeah, 1st. bad Ebay transaction!!

Sorry you didn't have a better hatch. Shipped eggs are such a gamble; I have had a range of success from zero to 100% with shipped eggs. It depends on so many factors that are out of control of the shipper (as long as they are packed well). I have Sebastopol eggs in the incubator now. They were shipped from a friend in Florida. I know her Sebbie eggs are fertile and she does an amazing job of packing, but it appears that only 1 of the eggs is growing. The postal service can be really hard on them.

OOHhh, we do too! We burry them on the property and have for 15yr years :)
Recently cried for 3 days because I hit my moms female African goose. I raised it and gave it to her! LuLu R.I.P

I know the feeling. I recently lost my beautiful Sebbie girl to a predator and cried my eyes out. Still so sad over her loss. RIP Ruffie. :(

Well Annabelle took a turn for the worse over the course of the night and we lost her a short bit ago. It was all very sudden and unexpected. She was a good bird. I really hope those eggs of hers are fertile and I can get them to hatch. It would be a small blessing if I could at least have some chicks from her.

So sad for everyone's losses. I sure hope her eggs are fertile!

Do you ever just look at your eggs and be so glad you keep chickens and don't have to buy from the store anymore. I just think they are so pretty. I read a funny name for them the other day. The amazing butt fruit.

Made some Buttermilk corn bread today and these eggs just looked so pretty to me.

And finally got the chance to make some homemade yogurt for the first time. Crossing my fingers that I did it right. We will see in the morning.

Was trying to catch Jenny laying (hoping for a third egg today! :fl) and I caught these two pullets looking VERY curious. :D Neither have ever laid. So maybe soon!

Edit: this is her egg. It looks like it's losing pigment? Maybe because it's her first egg in a while? Or she's older? I have no idea.
