hope everyone has been busy and well...hope everything goes well for you linda....
cody what shrink bags did you use...do you have a website for those...
also figured i would post...but its about mississippi...so if you know anyone that this pertains to i would let them know...i found this article very interesting...i thought we had rights as americans but obviously not...this is crazy...what next...
http://www.mintpressnews.com/propos...homes-without-warrants-and-shoot-dogs/203140/
i cant believe this would even be possible.....
how about the same rules apply for german shepards.....like the german shepard police dog that just brutally attacked a 10 year old...how about they post about that...ahhh im so mad...society and their views on certain things...i cant believe them...ahhhh...ok im done venting off to work

I understand your anger.I think its a bait and switch say its about dangerious dog and its really entering without a warrent. But FYI German Shepards are working dogs. Granted their giving to Police Handelers they have no buisness being a handler. It's always owner handeler at fault more than any Breed. I've owned & breed GSD's all my life any dog when not trained or giving the attention they need they become destrutive and unmanagble.Even mutts, any dog peroid. The police are now using Belgin Malenous and Belgin Shepards more than german shepards. I Love this breed and they are loyal and loving Dogs

Yea. I read here on the forum to keep the humidity very low, don't add water until lockdown for marans.
Think it was this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/852601/incubating-french-black-copper-marans

Pam did you have to assist any in your latest hatch?

No one was assisited. The one that piped that was alive when it piped, I decided to help it was too late. 5 out of 7 eggs that were shipped hatched and the darkest hatched so I'm happy with to number on that hatch. It was totally ignored one time the humidty was 18%. Even at lock down it was left to whatever the weather was doing. Pam

Hey Ya'll

I've had a terrible hatch with them being shrink wrapped. I need some advice from ya'll on what to do. There are two chicks that are basically still in ICU and to make matters worse one has a big eye and the other doesn't open very much. Also It's lower bill is crooked(doesn't line up to fit inside of the top bill). Should I end it now or let it live and see what happens? It may die on it's own but........what should I do. Any advice or opinions would be great. Thank you

Edit:  Nevermind.  After doing some reading on the forum I think I should go ahead and cull it.

I'm having trouble too. These babies are pipping and that's it. I'm on Day 23.

Edit: I lost the SS chick. It was shrink wrapped. I was trying to wait 24 hours before I intervened. But I just opened it up and took lots of pictures. I've got a second chick pipped but not zipping. It appears to also be stuck. I opened it a bit, and I'm letting it rest to see if that helped.

This is my first assisted hatch.

Nothing else has pipped. Well, there's one egg with a tiny crack, and the chick moved when I candled it. Other eggs have movement, veins look good, air cells look internally pipped. So I guess I'm still just waiting.

Camping, All my chicks were shrink wrapped except for the first that hatched on it's own. Some pipped internally and some externally. I opened them up halfway and left the bottom half of the shell in case the yolk wasn't absorbed, peeled off the membrane coated them liberally with Bacitracin and put them back in the bator in the carton. They stayed curled up like they were still in the egg until they were ready to come out. I was able to save them all. It's a ****** if you do and ****** if you don't situation.

That's really encouraging. This FBMC/SS egg was like this for 19 hours:

After losing the shrink-wrapped chick, I'm helping this one. I'm leaving everyone else alone for now. There is VERY LOUD cheeping from the egg with the tiny pip, so I'm going to let it continue on it's own for now. I don't like hatching on the sides, I've decided.

I'm about to wrap my coop in plastic a pipe in their feed and water. Or they're all going to be house chickens. This is super scary.
I wish that was an option for me, no reported out breaks here in LA. up to this point, and I support what they are doing to protect the industry and backyarders, but I am also aware that LA. is right smack dab in the most active flyway for migratory water foul and a sanctuary for wild birds, I live only 8 miles from Catahoula Lake, one of the most congested feeing grounds for these migrating birds. I will be getting NPIP cert. asap.

For those who are having trouble with shrink wrapped chicks, I read that misting the eggs will help with this, in my opinion, it seams logical to me to start bringing your humidity up gradually from day 16, 2 days before lockdown to reserve enough moisture to prevent shrink wrapping,

Thanks TD! I started misting yesterday after I was getting stuck chicks. One just hatched on its own, so maybe that helped? I've ordered the brinsea spot check, so hopefully no more temp issues for me.
