Blackberries? This is a fairly big plant growing up fr that pipe. We've always mowed it down. :/ There are little thorn suckers all over the yard, 6-12" high. Maybe they're blackberries too? I'm thinking now about moving them along the low spots in the perimeter fence for some cover. The chickens don't touch them.

Yep, well we call them dewberries. Usually the blackberries come after dewberries. My wife loves her some dewberries and dumplings. She can't wait for them to start growing. There is literally an unlimited supply where we live. Wonder how much I might be able to sell some for?

That is either a blackberry or Dewberry. the Dewberry's have smaller thorns, almost fuzzy looking, than the blackberries and the thorns are reddish. Blackberries will grow more erect than dewberries. If you have a place to let them grow do it! They make great jelly!

Hi everybody. Things going great for me now. Going home day is next Thursday, the 2nd. I'm getting so healthy and will not have a limp. Tap dancing is next on my list. Kidding!! I hate tap. Maybe somepin else. I don't want to jinx myself, but so far, everyone is thrilled how well it's turning out. But I did promise to follow rules and give it a great effort. I need to get a new incubator. Happy time in my life right now.

I want to say they're $2-3 a pint at SAMs/Walmart. Maybe that's not right... my memory is not the best. I'd pay more for fresh, esp. warm. :D

Are you not at home. How's your chooks doing?

Thanks y'all. I don't know why I didn't think of the fogger.

I can't find catnip seeds, either. I'm not looking in garden centers, though. Just the little dollar stores around here.

I found this website of plants: http://m.dummies.com/how-to/content...our-chicken-.pageCd-storyboard,pageNum-1.html

And I want to try them all. Catnip, feverfew, lavender, and wormwood. The first two are particularly compelling. I also want to plant borders of lemongrass around. And I could use a fogger in the meantime.

A guy who came over to see the flock was telling me about "mosquito barrier" which is essentially a garlic spray. It sounded promising also.

I've wanted bat boxes forever. Maybe I should look more into the purple martins also. I was reading The Chicken Chick's blog and she said her chickens solved the mosquito problem. Sounds like she must have had a mosquito inconvenience and not a full-out problem.

They are pricy but they work Mosquito magnet. I have a bayou that runs threw my property so they are bad here. After a few week if collapses the coloney from eggs to mosquito. Pam

Hi I am from central Louisiana. We started with chickens about 3 years ago. We started with 12 babies now we have around 150. We have golden laced wyandotte, light Sussex, coronation Sussex, silver phoenix, buff brama, and a bunch of others. We also have ducks. My son shows for 4-h and my nieces show and one of my sons friends show also. Have to make sure they don't compete against each other with the same breed lol. However I bought some chicks this year and I don't know what they are I haven't seen these before that I know of. Any ideas?

:welcome Is that Orust chicks I see? Pam

I really don't know I bought them because they were cute and figured I could figure it out. They told me that they were either rir or buffs I laughed at them. They are full blooded but just don't know what kind. I got them at tractor supply. I looked at their list I thought they maybe Ancona?
