See this right here is so confusing to me (as is most everything I read here lately lol)
Ya mean to tell me that you can have a mixed breed and an Easter egger (which is essentially mixed breed too right) and end up with a pure breed baby?!?! How on earth does that work and how on earth can you tell. I swear I'm getting that book!![]()
Chickens don't work like dogs and horses. You can breed two mixed breeds together and if the offspring looks like a certain breed, it is that breed. Now others will be hesitant to use that offspring since the chickens it creates may not breed true and look just like it. You won't find chickens with pedigrees, but many people place value on knowing where their birds come from. You can absolutely show, lets say a rhode island red, if it came from an easter egger and a cochin. As long as it looks like a rhode island red, and lays eggs of the correct color.
