Has anyone got a National Agricultural classification survey? Just curious apparently you can get money from farming. Not sure I want any part of gov. Involved in my business. Pam

Thanks y'all for celebrating my coop with me: :love

This morning DH gave me bad news: the coop is turning out "too fancy" (ie too expensive) for just 20 layers. So he wants to make it a barn, and add goats.

I'm reading everything I can! Who knows anything about goats?

I don't know a thing about goats other than I want a few one day. I really like the coop. It should make a good barn also :)

I don't have Orpingtons so no expert but I know they don't have tuffts. Talk to them they may not be aware they are mixed. They most likely will replace or refund you. I hope all goes well. Pam

I did contact the seller today and sent her the pics. She apologized and said she was an ameraucana. She had several different breeds hatched at the same time and had them mixed together in same brooder. No biggie. She is very pretty with a nice sheen to her black feathers and she can stay with my egg layers. :)

Oh Terri I meant to post earlier that I let the babies out yesterday. The RIR roolet is a spitfire! He's the only one who stands up to the guineas. He's also the only one who will eat from my hand; when he sees me he runs right over and follows me around! :love I'm hoping he grows into a kind and gentle boy for the flock.

They eat a lot and need plenty of space. Extra goat feed and hay in the winter. They will eat everything they can reach down to the ground and to the dirt.

What kind are you looking for. My Sister has considered selling hers if they can all go to a good home and not be separated. She has the big full size and pigmy goats.
If your interested I can put you in contact with her. She could tell you more about them. I know your a good animal Mama so I could vouch for you. :)

Pygmies, or other dwarfs, and not more than 3. How many does she have?

I'll go get a measure on what we're fencing for pasture. I posted in the goat thread but no answer yet.
