"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Morning y'all. I'm in a bit of a pickle with this senior lab I adopted. Turns out he's been my mystery predator for 5 or so birds. A few nights ago he went on a little murder spree and killed three; I found the bodies stacked neatly in the azaleas. The fourth is plucked bald from shoulders to tail.

So I need to find him a home. He's not good with chickens, but he's good with kids, cats, and other dogs. He's a really good family dog or yard dog. We've got him house and crate trained. He will sit and stay before eating, and we were working on "lay down."

He's a chocolate lab, 8, not neutered. We got him in October and I worked with him on the chickens and he was doing really well! But it's getting to be our busy time of year and I'm not going to have time to retrain. His previous owner said he was a good duck dog, but we haven't tried him on that. I do know he has a soft mouth.

If y'all wouldn't mind spreading the word or watching for folks who would want a dog, I'd appreciate it. I'll deliver him anywhere in the state or east of Beaumont.

He really is a good boy, and I've championed for him and worked with him for several months. He's just never been a good fit for us, like a hexagon peg and an octagon hole.

Sorry to hear this. Pam

I'm sorry camping, I'll keep an ear out for someone looking for a lab.
I've had troubled with my German Shepard going after and killing my chickens. She can't get to them now. But the other day I took her to the pasture with me and my 1 year old opened the coop and let her right in. .. She grabbed my Marans hen, but thankfully didn't harm her when I made her let her go. It's hard to break them of getting chickens. She's not going to the pasture without her shock collar anymore.

Happy chickens now all in their breeding pens!

This is my Black Marans pullet. I had Bev Davis and two other top breeders evaluate her. They all really liked her. I'll be showing her and my Langshans in March. I'm excited, she has an excellent body type, and eye color, I think she will do really well! :)

how much would a specked sussex chicken be worth? they are 7 months old and laying. I need to cull some chicks out as I have to many.

Hey, how's everyone doing? I have a question.......a guy I work with wants to buy some laying hens. I told him $25 a piece for 10 month old laying barred rocks and RIR. Is that about going rate? I also have a few SLW that just started laying.. what are they worth?? Thank you

They're worth whatever someone will pay! :D The markets vary regionally and by time of year. It doesn't hurt to start at $25, then haggle lower. I just sold some for $15 a piece, but they were mixed and I feel bad asking top dollar for mixed hens. Then again, eggs are eggs!

I figured $25 was fair for this time of year being things are kind of slow. You make a good point......eggs are good no matter where they come from

I can sell mixed breed layers in my area as good layers for 20.00 this is for birds at POL. It all depends on demand in your area. Camping had this breed she may be able to help you. Pam
