New to BYC. Just wondering if anyone knew about selling quail eggs in Louisiana? Do i need a game bird license to sell eating eggs and hatching eggs? Or just for eating eggs? They are Coturnix Quail.

! Ive bought eggs for hatching an im pretty sure you dont need any soecial licencing. Im pretty new to poulty myself though but i was excited to see you have quail we ate our three extra males last night, they were scrumptious!

Totally agree there. lol Very good eating. Have you ever tried making a gravy with them and put it over some rice? Did that one night at the deer lease.

This is only the second time ive made em! I started in poulrty last May and part of the deal was i could keep em if i planned to eat the extra males. Couldnt believe the taste though, i cant Wait to have more cots! So whatr u into, aside from the quail? Do u have special colors of cots? And about where are you located? We love pics!!

I started off with Rhode Island Reds and Pekin Ducks. Sold all of my RIR though. Kept my ducks. Then decided i would try my hand at quail lol. And Iv got the jumbo brown coturnix. Haven't got into other breeds of quail yet. Was considering Texas A&M though. And im about 20 mins south of Shreveport. How about you? Anything you raise or would like to raise?

What fun! I ducks! They were my first ever hatchers! Sold all 18 2 days after hatch though. I keep tryn to talk myself around pekin, theyre just so big! im currently selling my Cayuga mix bred as layers though, tommorow Holly Farm from up in Bernice is coming to get them. Ill miss them but i wanted a pure breeding stock in the name of conservation. I have currently have button quail, Bourbon Red Turkeys, EEs, white Bresse, and those ducks. ive kept the A&M an i wasnt over the top about them. One had a prolapse on her first egg, and she was one of only two hens from 6 chicks that i bought when i was starting. I hope you can have a better experience! I live about 20 minutes from Baton Rouge, were pretty far apart, but i know someone from this thread stays up there up by you!

So you have your hands full huh? lol I did have a pair of Bourbon Red Turkeys but i just never had any luck with hatching. So i decided to sell. Kinda miss them lol. But i definitely want to keep most of my pekins. And they are always so calm. And i think Baton Rouge is about 3 or 3 1/2 hours from me. I have a customer down there. He's in Lakeland.
