It's sometimes hard to introduce new chicks to the flock without them trying to kill them. My Lavender Orpingtons were the worst. I had to take one inside cause her wing was nearly broke and whe.n I put her back out after a couple of days they all turned on her. It was horrible! They were all from the same hatch. It seems like anytime I separated one for any reason, that would happen. I have an incubator but I'm waiting on some new baby chicks to come in April. It's so hard for me to go to places that sell chicks but I am trying to wait for mine so I won't have that problem again.
I have black Japanese bantams. I'm in Baton Rouge but could drive partway
Quote: They were born and raised together, it was a re-introduction after a couple of days away. I did put it in a cage in the pen although I don't remember if I put it on the roost at night or not. I will definitely try that though if the need arises because I hate when chickens pick on each other. Thanks for advice.
