hi all,
just made an account and wanted to introduce myself.

I'm phil ;) me and my wife lindsey, and our daughter button just moved down to independence, Louisiana from flint michigan.

getting our homestead started. currently just have a pigmy goat, but our first batch of ducks hatch in a week or so. their a mix of khaki Campbells, muscovy, cayuga, and ancona we got from a very nice lady named jan near baton rouge.

we are on 3.5 acres with a very large pond that has plenty of plant life and fishies in it, so our birds will be happy n free range grazers.

were planning on hatching every month. currently we have a single little Giant incubator with the 42 spot automatic egg turner, but we will be expanding on that when we have time.

were interested in building a large variety of birds, so if anyone nearby has any hatching eggs for sale, txt me ;) 810 965 0786.

hope yall r staying dry

Hello to all! I am in the market for some speciality breeds such as light Sussex, barnevelder, copper Maran, blue laced red Wyandotte, and a cream Americana. I have a small back yard flock and would like to add some variety. I don't mind buying chicks. I live in south Louisiana...way south. I am willing to drive a couple of hours to meet. Please let me know if anyone has these varieties! Thanks so much! Samantha.
I have light sussex in the bator depends on how many hatch if I sell some. Otherwise It will be when they start laying. Green fire farms lines. I have Black Copper Marens going in the bator next. Green firs farms line and Bev Davis lines. I'm in slidell and most of mine are rare breeds. Pam

thanks for the welcome ;)

were mostly interested in ducks at this point. but open minded to anything that lays interesting eggs. (like olive eggers)
do you have a list?

i think next batch going into our incubator will be more of what we currently are hatching, plus some black copper marans, and cucko marans. wed love to put some olive eggers in there but havent found any locally yet

in non bird related plans, if anyone knows where we can get some KuneKune or American Guinea Hogs, let me know. also magnolia trees, tea tree, coconut palm, and banana tree. (currently have pomegranate, avacado, and blood orange)

Hope everyone is above water this morning! :hugs I got some pics yesterday of the birds.

First, the honas! Pam, look how nicely he's filled out. :love Just the sweetest, funniest little thing. Every time I open the door he tidbits and dances for me. That's what he's doing here.

And he loves his hen SO much. He always sleeps as close to her as possible.

Lagertha with her three babies. She did ok for her first time. She hopped off the nest with four eggs left, one zipping (died) and three whole. I put them in the bator and one hatched, one is working on it, and one is a dud. She had also kicked a healthy baby out of the nest; luckily I found it and put it back under her.

Three of the bricks I got from Terri. :love I think I'll separate them into a breed pen once I get the fencing up at the new coop.
