"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good morning!! Looks like this thread hasn’t had much activity but do see some southern Cajuns are posting so wanted to join in! I’m in Slidell, right at edge of Honey Island Swamp on MS line. Just starting out with chicks, have 9 that are in their 4th week. Barred rocks, red rocks, Wyandotte, and Welsummer.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!
:frow:welcome and welcome to chickens! Im from Slidell originally! My parents still live off of bayou liberty and i graduated from Salmen high :) sounds like some really pretty chicks! Where did you get them? Have you heard of chicken math yet?

Yes there are some of us still around! After a few years you watch lots of people come and go, might take a hiatus yourself but thats alright cuz most of us are here to learn how to best care for the chooks :)

Hi. I'm Von from the NOLA metro area. Our backyard flock is 2 pekin ducks, 2 cayuga ducks, 2 ameraucana hens, 1 silver laced wyandotte, 1 new hampshire red, 2 week old chicks who are 1 black australorp and 1 ameraucana mixed with ???.

(Chick in the picture is Eggsy the ameraucana from when she was just a babby. She is my special pet who is spoiled rotten and loves snuggling with me.)

Which fb page(s?) are you reffering to?

Ill add a couple of things about me...

It was about 4 yrs ago i got into poultry. Before i knew it i had hatched over 300 birds in a year. :lau

I got married and had a baby and took a hiatus while raising up the family a lil bit but now im back full swing :love

We currently have 62 quail, a flock of 5 blue laced red wyandottes, a breeding pair of Svart Hona, a pair of cochin hens and a pair of mixed cuckoo marans hens. Most of the chickens came from a member @Lakones:love the Hona were mine sold to her as i downsized, and now "sold" (she practically gave them to me) back:lau

Morning y’all. :frow Busy day here as folks come out today. Lots of work to be done!

Anyone else have bees? I’m taking a class right now, it’s very interesting. Hoping to get a couple hives started soon.

Ive considered that but id have to find someone to let me put it on their property so i didnt ever do it. If i were to go that route how often do u think id have to go check on them once established?
