"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have a quick breed question. In early February I was given a flock of five hens and a rooster. I was told they were Black Marans but I'm not sure. I'm in Lafayette. Are they common in this area? Here are a couple pictures of the flock and eggs. I'm starting to think they are Australorps. I saw a picture of a Black Marans rooster and it didn't look like the one I had. The eggs aren't the same color as the Black Maran eggs I've seen online. Reading about the Australorps is like reading about my chickens. Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi! Marans are pretty common everywhere, but I agree that yours don’t quite look right. The one with a single comb does look like an australorp, but at least one of them has a cushion, walnut, or rose comb. I can’t quite see to tell. And I’m not familiar with breeds with those comb types. You might have some mixed birds, but they look really pretty and healthy! And your eggs look really nice. :)

Which fb page(s?) are you reffering to?

Ill add a couple of things about me...

It was about 4 yrs ago i got into poultry. Before i knew it i had hatched over 300 birds in a year. :lau

I got married and had a baby and took a hiatus while raising up the family a lil bit but now im back full swing :love

We currently have 62 quail, a flock of 5 blue laced red wyandottes, a breeding pair of Svart Hona, a pair of cochin hens and a pair of mixed cuckoo marans hens. Most of the chickens came from a member @Lakones:love the Hona were mine sold to her as i downsized, and now "sold" (she practically gave them to me) back:lau
I was referring to the Backyard Chickens fb page
