"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Welcome! Beautiful birds, good luck!

Welcome! Do you currently have a flock?
Yes I do.. I have had them for a year... 2 RR, 1 mixed breed, 2 black sussex (best layers ever I get eggs daily from those 2) and 2 guineas left out of 5. But they are making babies!!!! Getting through the guinea puberty was tough but worth it... Don't have a tick problem any more and between them and the chickens very few snake issues.

Easter eggers. They’re hardy, friendly, and good mamas. I’ve loved all of mine.
I agree with you on the Easter eggers. I am partial to guineas because I had a huge tic and snake problem. Living on a creek snakes of all kinds are here and I was pulling tics from my farm cats daily 3 or more tics on both of them. Guineas are difficult their first year because they are noisy!!!! First it's the females hitting puberty OMG I thought I was gonna loose my mind... I named that female Gabby because she would not be quiet EVER. I think that is what led to her death walking around screaming all over my 3 acres it drew the attention of Hawks and as I was going outside to check on her right as I opened the door a hawk swooped in and grabbed her by the neck. So not only did she drive me crazy but she made herself a snack. Then mating comes andthe males become vocal but not as bad as the the females. Yes I love guineas they offer a lot of support in critter control but be aware the first year will be the roughest. BTW, Guineas are very good at carefully debugging the garden. They don't rip up plants and they do almost no damage to plants. My chickens will root up the plants and eat them even though it's fenced and gated they still get in. I am now trying pin wheels as a deterrent. So far it's working.

I have 1 and it's a cross with a RR. It lays daily since she started laying about nine months ago. My 2 black Sussex lay daily HUGE eggs and my RR lays 5 times a week. I like the more docile nature of my Easter egger cross the rest of the hens are more assertive with each other and caught up with who is head chicken where theEaster egger cross wants no part of their silly squabbles. When replacement time comes I will be adding Easter eggers.
