"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have taken excess roos to Zachary Feed, in a cage, and they've sold them for me. I usually tell them to ask for $10 and I split it with whoever got it sold. Actually I usually just give it all to them, some kids who work there are in school/college.
It helps to take the bird in on a Friday morning or Saturday. Other feed stores probably would do this if asked. Craig's List is another option that I have used to sell excess Roosters.
I have an adult roo and what I suspect is a baby roo from a 2 chick hatch, he looks more like a boy-chick every day so he'll need to go to a new home. I dislike having more than one roo around - someone's always squalling or fussing.
My craig's list experience is mixed, however. When I am just selling 1 or 2 young roosters I get buyers wanting a small flock rooster but if I am selling 7 or more I get people buying birds for eating/grow out/re-market.
Hi, I live in central about 15 minutes from zachary feed. Can you recommend anyone that is selling hens around 10-12 weeks old. I have brahmas, barred rock and sexlink. Good to see fellow members so close to me.

Best bet might be Baton Rouge Craig's list. Do you not want to raise up biddies or just want grown chickens now?
My daughter might be willing to grow some out.

I've been on here for a little while, but this is my intro post. Small backyard flock in EBR parish. All orpingtons: 4 buffs, 3 silver laced, 2 jubilee.

Looking to get rid of a silver laced roo and a buff roo if anyone is interested. I'll take 15 for the silver laced. Buff is free to some who wants him. Both are very gentle and great with kids

Good to hear from you! Good luck moving the spare roosters. I have one and a spare as long as they get along...if they start fighting all the time, Junior will have to leave.

Do you give your cooked chicken carcass to your hens when you’re done eating it? I used to do it then one hen mysteriously died a couple of days later. Someone said maybe she got a small bone in her crop. I never fed them a carcass again. I admit I went through a rash of deaths back in those days. I have a meaty carcass that I hate to throw away. My hens LOVE chicken carcasses. What are your thoughts?
