That's a cool idea. Are you ataching them or leaving them loose?

Hi! I may have missed it but are you planning to have your coop opened to the run? So the chickens can go to bed and get up on their own? If not, I suggest you set it up this way… makes life so much easier! My entire coop is the run… they have a sleeping section within, that way if I ever have to leave for a couple of days they are just fine on their own with plenty of room!My plan is to leave them loose but within dividers. They are 15” wide, so I will have a 16” space with dividers on the side- 1/2” gap on either side. Leaving them loose will allow me to take them out and clean them if needed.
The platform they will be on should be deep enough in which any ruckus behavior should not knock them out.
When I am finished, I will post a picture. It should turn out just right.
The question with this is….is 15” too wide? I posted this question and received multiple responses. Some say it’s too wide because it may allow more than one hen to nest in. Others say, 15” is just fine- gives the hen room to get comfy.
I will give it a try and see. If it causes issues, I can always cut them down and put the dividers closer in width.
Btw, this looks great!!I am getting pretty close to finishing the coop.

Definitely a roof or hardware cloth! Mine has a roof!Yes…the coop will have an open door. The run is 16x24’ under three oak trees.
I have 1/2” black, pvc coated hardware cloth to put around- trying to make predator proof.
Question:
Should I put the hardware cloth on top also or would bird netting be sufficient?
The run will be 16x24 at 6’ tall.
