"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

One idea would be a petition drive to amend presented at a council meeting. Or here I can ask to speak during the "new business" part of a council meeting. Your power is going to be in getting as many people to speak up as possible. You should be able to set up a limited plan that would allow some chickens (probably 10 or less) with some guidelines for the chicken house/coop. You may get some pushback on allowing roosters and they will probably not want to allow enough chickens for an egg business. Negotiate.
Did you read through any of chicken laws & ordinances? That will give you some ideas on what could be possible. Egg prices are a good reason but the whole bird flu issue that is driving the egg prices is scary. Maybe have to limit things to covered coops, chicken tractors and small flocks. Good luck to you!
I appreciate the guidance very much. Thank you!

Hello everyone, my wife and I (Kinder area) have a few hens and roosters and I ‘ve been looking for a feed mill that I could purchase high quality (around +22% protein) feed from that’s around the $20-$24 mark. Anyone have any suggestions?

The 2 I have used are Kentwood Co-op, in Kentwood, Louisiana, and Atlas Mills in Breaux Bridge. Neither is very close to you. I feed 20% Kalmbach layer pellets.
Also: Welcome to BYC & our Louisiana chicken tenders!

i bought the all flock version by the ton twice at there facility. Buddy of mine runs a farm nearby / that’s where my deer lease is and he gets a really good deal thru them so it was cheap / convenient for me despite being 5 hrs away. Just tossed it in the flatbed I was already dragging home. I go thru almost 500 lbs a month.

Got my order from Ideal, 25 chicks, the colorful egg box mix. Not quite figured out who is what but definitely some Anconas, Orpingtons & Marans. Hatched Feb.12, here on Feb.13, morning. All look very healthy.

Looks like that batch has 5 EE's, 3 blue marans, 2 cuckoo marans, 3 anconas (love this breed), 2 buff minorcas (new one for me), 3 Hampshires, 2 black stars, 3 delawares and 2 buff orpingtons. I will probably sell the Delawares & the Orpingtons if anyone is interested. It'll be at cost, so about $7 each if they leave soon, if anyone is interested.

I will take both the buffs. I will pay cash or got some olive layers , young pullets too . Might take the delawars too. But definitely the buffs. I’m about to go on a week long cruise and on call for the next two weeks. But yes I want the buffs 😬

Buffs are yours, and I'm not really advertising them so no hurry. They are easier to tell apart when they get past the puffball stage, too. Have a nice cruise!
