Hello from Delcambre!

Hi, everybody!
I'm currently in Utah but my husband and I have just decided to move to Louisiana! we're looking in the Calhoun, Monroe, West Monroe area. We'd like to be a little more country than right in Monroe. So can y'all help me? maybe direct me to the ordinances for those areas and let me know how easy/hard it was to get your chickens out there?
I currently have four. two Salmon Feveroles (aka peeps and pebbles) and two cuckoo Marans (Belle and Crispy Truffle) {don't ask about that last name} We've been raising them from chicks and the kids love them. Anybody have any ideas how hard it will be to move the chickens that far?
thanks in advance. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi there, carybear. If you like the country, the Sterlington area is very nice. We have a hunting club out there, and spend lots of time there. It is lovely. They got chicken farms out there, too....like the BIG ones, lol. Mostly meaters, I think, but I always see lots of different kinds of chickens in yards when we go to the camp. My fiance' is the president of our hunting club, so if ya move anywhere near there, and your hubby hunts.....look us up, we're always looking for new members! It's a very family-oriented club, women and children are always welcome. I go on all the hunts, and our kids come with us.

Welcome to Louisiana!!!!

I am in Shreveport and I have 2 Barred Rock Roosters that are now 8 1/2 weeks old (hatched June 16-17). This is my first attempt at raising chickens and unfortunately it isn't really legal here and my neighbors will turn me in if my roosters start waking them up, so I am looking to re-home them. They have been hand raised and are very social. Anyone interested???

Hey there Bebop! Glad you finally made it! did you find some land to rent or buy?
Somebody was advertising Marans in the Market Bulletin last week so you might check there.

Welcome to hot & humid Louisiana! sorry you had to choose the worst month of the year weather-wise to move here!

Yeah! Glad to be here! We found a place with 4 acres for rent and hope to make things official today!
What is the Market Bulletin? Online or on paper? And yeah didn't exactly get to choose haha the Army tells us when and where! but I REALLY REALLY like it here! I love humidity and the rain!
