"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yes.. In that pic they are still in the bator, but we can use it as a brooder for these little itty bitty chickens..lol.. I will scan the pic and post it.

I guess it just isn't ever going to rain again...

I don't want a flood, just a couple of days of a nice slow rain...

Here is a scan of the bator that Ms. Pat used... it is taken from "Raising Poultry The Modern Way" by Mercia 1975

Here it is in action.

That is a nice homemade bator! congrats on the Serama chicklets; I love them & wish I had room to get into raising them (but peacocks stole my heart instead, lol).

We had one good rain earlier this week & of course the 1st flash of lightning knocked out our power for several hours, but we are sort of used to that so it wasn't a big deal. At least it came back on before we had to drag out the generator.

It's SO nice to have cooler temps!
I think we have solved our predator problem, have not caught anything all week. Looking at a post on the Predator thread, Jim picked up some little solar panels at Harbour Freight yesterday & we are going to the seasonal Halloween store tomorrow & look for flashing red strobe lights to make our own "predator panel". If we don't find them there the Walmart bicycle department should have something similar.

Hope everybody has a good weekend!

Cool incubator, Baralak.. I used to have a Little Giant, now we've got lots of natural incubators running around, lol.

Yeah Terri, isn't it wonderful outside.. I can't get enough !!!

We need lots & lots of rain.. our waterfront looks down right depressing

This is where my canoe usually goes, I had my hubby dig it out more with the water down. That muck makes some good potting soil

Wow.. Looks like Wall Lake or Horseshoe lake. It is very LOW everywhere. My grass that I planted about a month ago is about dead. Still try to water it, but you know how that goes.. for get it a couple of days, and it turns brown. BLAH!

I don't have the room here for pea foul. Just getting my family used to chickens, don't want to blow their minds with water/pea foul. lol I don't have any water here anyhow.

Hey Wendy! good to see you back online! got your message -- so glad your husband wasn't on that rig.
Some of the people in NE La are trying to get a chickenstock going for next March - April. Anybody know where we are on that? I will help out if I can!

We have to start picking up pecans this weekend; looks like a lot of them came down this week.

Now just hope that hurricane doesn't turn our direction next week! - can't believe having one this late in the year, but you never know....

I don't know about everyone else, Joe....but I been huntin'

Muzzleloader is open tomorrow morning at our club. ( that's in Spencer, not far from you ) With the season open, I'll be in and out. Not much computer time during hunting season for me. I'm still trying to locate us a place for our chickenstock. The only places I've been able to have much luck with are not really convenient for everyone. Trying to find someplace a bit neutral. This is really harder than I thought it would be, but that's ok. I really want us to have one.

Howdy All, Been busy here... I believe that I might have found a location but I want to talk to a few people first. It is at a local feedstore that has a huge barn and outside area. My only problem with using that facility is securing other sponsors. I have been setting up a website as well for more information it is simply ... www.louisianachickens.com. There isn't any information on it yet, but will be populating it over the weekend.

What do you think about having it at a feedstore?

Joe
