This is what I found about the shoe covers but I can't believe that you can get 100 covers for only $12.16?

Terri Ann I am so glad ya'll are OK! We had the same thing happen here,. We saw the sky go green and the tornado warning came on the TV and we grabbed the cat and the dog and hit the bathroom in the center of the house,.. but it's a raised house and we could feel the house shaking for about 60 seconds then it got quiet,.. it passed by us and hit 2 miles north on the I -12 and then hit Pearl river. I feel so badly for that poor woman in Bush that lost her entire house,..praise the Lord she's alive,. don't know how??

We are swamped too,. ankle deep to the coop,. truned the flock out and watched them try to avoid the water,...

one young roo refused to croos the swamped area to "dry land" and sat there crowing and crowing until I went to carry him across,.. big weenie!

Yay Missie! How's the hatch going??? Pics! Praying it's a great one!

I love those polyfoam things she packs in,. they seem so safe , and they are much easier to unpack!

I am gonna get me some for selling our Barnie eggs I think,..

Now Ive got strawberry and praline Kingcake on the brain,. gotta go find Kingcake,..

I don't know about ya'll but I am going to be in SO much trouble when I go to the Expo on Sat! because I keep seeing all these beautiful eggs & the hatching fever is setting in again big time! like I need more chicks -- have 6 week olds & 1 week olds right now!

Julie, too funny about your broody mean hen-- when my Myrtle went broody that one time, she not only stole all of the other hen's eggs, she crouched on that nest & growled like an old dog - and snapped like one, too! I sure wish she'd go broody again, now that I have a rooster & fertile eggs I could set under her (again, like I need more chickens)! I felt so bad for her, not being able to hatch any chickies of her own.

Gosh that King Cake looks good -- but -- today begins Lent & a good excuse to drop a few pounds, so no sweets for me until Easter!

Please go look at the chicken behaviors and egg laying thread and comment on the post "Selling Eggs" if you have any useful info. Sorry...I dont know how to link it in to this thread.

Boy, do I have ALOT to learn! We had some chicks given to us last year, you know, those adorable dyed chicks for Easter that nobody expects to live very long? Well, they lived and we were so excited to think that we had a hen and would walk all over the yard waiting to see an egg! Ha! Somebody failed to tell us that the dyed chicks were males. (

I am turning out to be a horrible farmer) So, we finally got rid of the last 3 roosters, they were becoming aggresive and chasing the kids, so I put an ad on Craigslist and somebody picked them up just in time for Mardi Gras! We went on Monday to a local feed store and let the kids pick out 6 chicks that they say had been sexed and more than likely female. I sure hope so! The kids are having so much fun, the chicks are so entertaining to watch. We hope to have some good egg layers, wish us luck!

I forgot to mention that I am in Youngsville, La and we have 3 Long Island Reds and 3 Barred Rocks and if everything works out well, we will be adding more.
