One of the 2 EEs we got from Baralak at the Expo today. Fingers crossed and we have been doing the pullet dance in the kitchen in hopes that's what they are Will also post a pic of one of the Polish I got from Slaird at the Expo....
We got there at 8 and hung around about an hour. Long enough to see some gorgeous birds and take home a few. Thanks for those who were instrumental in organizing it

Here is the Silver Laced Polish we got from Slaird at the Expo...such a cutie at 1 week old. We also picked up 3 golden laced polish from her as well that are 2 weeks old.

It was a pleasure to meet y'all today!
I got my first blue egg less than an hour after I met my new hens, another while we were getting pizza after the expo, and the largest one a few hours later. Today was a good day.

We enjoyed it; was great to meet you all & fun to have an excuse to take a little road trip!
Back home & back to business; after dark tonight got our 4 peas moved into their new permanent home - they are not happy right now but hopefully tomorrow will be enjoying the new freedom & room of their new place.

Greatly enjoyed meeting & talking with all of you; so nice to put faces with the internet names---hope we can do this again next year.

wow this time change is wreaking havoc w/me! feel like 1/2 the day's gone already! The peas are happy as clams this morning, wandering around all that space & watching their chicken neighbors next door. We still have the front 30 x 30 section to finish fencing in & then they'll have 30 x 60 total to roam around in. I have a ton of landscaping to do in there & another coat of paint on the chicken coop (to match the pea hut) & murals to paint on both of them.

My Mom who was looking after the fur - and - feather kids while we were gone yesterday reported that she came in to find "one of the little black ones" roaming around on my utility room floor---Wow! that would be one of the BCMs -- I had NO idea those little suckers could fly out of their brooder already -- they hardly have wings yet! I've never had chicks that young fly that high up before. They are a real piece of work-- they are fearless; you put your hand in there & all three will run over & hop on it. I wonder if that's a breed characteristic or just the way these particular three chicks are?

OK off to my "non-paying" jobs -- maid, laundress, dog groomer, gardner, cook -- you know the routine!

Thanks to Joe for organizing the Expo and to everyone else who contributed. I had a great time. I really enjoyed the presentation and the information that was shared. It was so nice to meet those that attended. Now I can put a face with the name.

Today will be a day of much rest. I woke up at 4am on yesterday to prepare my day for the Expo. I left out at 5:00AM and was scheduled to make it there at 8:00AM but because of some unexpected stops, I didn't make it there until after 9:00AM. My litte stops included included stopping at flea markets and garage sales. It was great. I found a few things to decorate my chicken house in addition to the items that Paisaneaux and Gambysfarm so generously gave me. (Thanks ya'll)

I posted a few pics below of some of the old, antiques items that I bought yesterday.

I bought the little wooden child's chair for $1.00, rusty lantern $1.00 and sickle $2.00. I can't remember what the lady told me the little rusty scooper long handle thingy is but I paid $1.00 for that. I'm thinking about placing and securing the little child's chair on the wall in the chicken house or have it suspended from the ceiling inside the chicken house. I have to tighten up the legs, clean and paint it.

I paid $0.50 for this little beauty. I will hang this somewhere on the outside of my chicken house.

So my journey continues to look for a few more items. It's fun finding these inexpensive items. Seems like it will take forever to finish painting and decorating this chicken house.
