Gracie your DH did away with free pest control lol

Last I heard from paisaneaux they had an issue with their chickens trying to get NPIP and wasnt sure what he was going to do. The guy he deals with failed the test and I believe infected his birds as well. He was supposed to come get a few birds but havent heard from him since the incident.

Also glad to see you doing better bayoupoules

Rat snakes are just one of the hazards of keeping birds IMO. It's just hard to convince my family members to catch them. They are all a bunch of sissies!

I DROVE!!
I felt so good yesterday,. I drove 40 miles to Ponchatoula Feed & Seed,..and we got supplies and,... chicks! We had a broody hen hatch out one single BCM chick and then she was a bad Mama,.. so we brought it i the house,.. and it was just tooo lonley,.. so we HAD to get a couple of chicks,. anyway,. the guy there was pushing these cute Polish chicks that they just couldn't sell and even said he would give me a deal on,. well,.. I have no use for them myself,.. but they were sooo cute,. I got one for my neighbor that likes " pretty chickens" ,..

She was sooo happy,. she may go get more! I found out that a hawk took her favorite hen last week and she had been wanting a new bird.
It all worked out.
Now I'm back in bed and DH says he may take away the keys till I have DR's OK to drive,.. but it was worth it!

Julie,.. I have been wondering about those same folks as well,.. Paisaneaux was becoming such a "Hatchaholic",.. I wonder if he's too overrun with babies to post....

Glad ya checked in Twiley,.. I know you are enjoying your time with those grandchildren!

Terri Ann,.. DD asked me 3 times if Winnie was OK,.. she has gotten addicted to the thread since she has been reading them to me,.. I may have to sign her up with her own name.,.. so I will give her the good news that Winnie is doing well!

Julie,.. we've been using the fly traps and they are working great,.. Thanks for suggesting

Is it just us or do ya'll find the flies much worse than usual?

I'm glad that you got out. Good score on those chicks. That was nice of you to give to your neighbor. Such a sweet gesture.

Paisaneaux may be drowning in chicks. I hope that he checks in soon.

Glad that you are liking those fly traps. I'm happy for you and your animals.
And you are right, the flies are much worse than usual.

Congratulations,.. that's something to "crow" about!!!!

Crows, please don't say the "C" word. Crows are out and are full of mischief these days. My turkeys whooped up on a crow 2 days ago and he flew off with his tail between his legs.

I hope it doesn't return.

Why ME!?

Ya know,.. I used to feel the same way about crows as you,.. but I have grown to LUV those crows,.. I have seen them chase off hawks several times from our place! Really gave them what for.
We lost Rocky to a hawk last year and the neighbor just had one take a hen last week

I'll take your crows! Olivia says Turkey vs Crow,.. the video would have won you 10,000 in AFV!!!

I told him that! I am trying hard to change his perception. Maybe if I get him on of those snake catch poles he would at least TRY to catch them alive. I know he won't go for it with just a pair of gloves though!

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so sorry to hear that.

If you talk to him, please let him know that we asked about him and are hoping that things turn out ok.

OH! That's awful news,..

what Julie said... X2

and thanks everyone for the well wishes,.. I really hate attention,.and drama,..but it sooo good to be doing simple things again. My patients used to tell me the same thing,. but I never really understood. I took good health for granted... never again.

Julie,.. remember when we talked about screening in the coop?

Well it seems to be working for us ,.. and we said we were concerned about it clogging up?,.. well,.. even with the fan in the window it's not that bad, Olivia took a broom to it and that's all it needed. ,.. still it would be a lot of work for as many as you have,.. but I know you were thinking of your broody hens....
