"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Whiskey Bay, I'm with you on the family issues. I believe more and more that the world in which we live is going crazy. My ex son-in-law overdosed on drugs yesterday. Now, I'll be able to sleep at night not having to worry about threats of bodily harm or death to myself or my husband; I feel safe knowing that my granddaughter won't be molested by her father; and that my grandchildren won't get drugs from him either; and we as tax payers won't have to provide free room and board for a thief/crackhead/deadbeat dad/violator of parole/child molester. Finally, after years of fear and turmoil poetic justice has been served. I pray that God forgives me for not being sad for this guy's death. It's sad for my grandchildren to lose their father but, they are so much better off without his involvement/influence in their lives. This guy was another one of those that never provided for his family. Not only did he father three children with my daughter; he has three other children with three other women for a total of six children and pays child support for none of them.

So sorry to hear about their father. We've much expected to hear of one of them ODing. They were known around here for drugs, and they've stolen from us.I am on prescribed meds for my headaches. Not narcotics or painkillers like you would think.Simply a daily med to try to fend of as much of the headaches as possible,a tablet that I only take when a bad one kicks in($28 tab,so I barely try to use those!),and Zoloft. Not depressive or anything, just to balance the moods(for lack of a better word)Like to keep me from overdoing it in the emotional part... I kknow I sound screwy...lol... But it does seem to help some.Seems like it keeps me from losing my cool or getting upset too easily? Helps the blood pressure...lol...

So glad you all are out of that mess - I am so appreciative of my family & thankful for them every day - the older I get, the more I appreciate them. We had some bad seeds here too but time took care of them, too, and it really is a blessing to be able to breathe that sigh of relief. I totally understand where ya'll are coming from.

Up late again, I think in my next job I'll try to find something on a night shift! I always have done better at night.
Have a good one everybody!

I loved when I worked nights!! I did security for a defunked company.I sat on 40 acres watching dvd's and playing on the net all night...lol... Then went home got the boys off to school and hubby to work, and I went to bed...lol... I've never been much of a night sleeper since I was about 13.

We just excluded the rest of the family and do just fine.I wont subject my kids to those conditions. And the MIL is a deadbeat who plays favorites. She would give my oldest son for xmas and his bday, but tell his brother I'll have to get with you another time.My son has realized this fact and just doesn't associate with her.And even though him and his brother almost hate each other,my oldest boy started splitting any money she gave him with his brother.I feel bad alot because my kids don't have the extended family, and only gets gifts from us.But it's better than hanging around a bunch of drunks, deadbeats, and dopeheads....

Praying for mawmaw here.Hope she's fine.

ALAS....Have you brough in any new birds lately? Honestly could be anything.IT could be LT,MG,Coryza...many others.... Are they showing any other symptoms?Runny watery or bubbly eyes? runny nostrils? coughing? Are they eating? Have you checked for mites and lice? IT could be almost anything.Don't know about LA,but up north of me in MS they are fighting a huge outbreak of LT from the chicken houses.Unfortunately, when they clear those chicken houses every year, they have guys come in and load up the waste into dump trucks and lots of people use this waste in their gardens and fields. This makes it airborne more-less.With the winds picking it up and carrying it.Then they are supposed to incenerate the 'old' chickens ,but these guys getting paid to clear these houses out are loading them up on trailers and hauling them across county and state lines for resale. They will sell thousands of these sick chickens for a buck or two and make a killing, all awhile killing our chickens...The state right now is looking for a guy who has been selling sick chickens(not just battery chickens) here and in LA. Diseases are just SOOO easily transmittable... A person who has been in contact with a sick bird could have infected your whole flock with something. And not knowing or meaning to.That's why it's so important to keep everything clean, disinfected, apply biosecurity precaustions, and plainly, just keep everything away from them.I don't know places for free testing, but you can contact the state for testing sites to send to.

Good morning. I'm so sorry to hear what's going on with your birds. Are you NPIP certified? If so, you can call the state vet for your area and they will come out and do testing. Even if you are not NPIP certified, you can still call them and they can direct you better on how to proceed. You also may want to ask them if there is any outbreak of any diseases in your area. You will need to know that. Testing will be the only way to determine what is going on.

In the meantime, can you please tell me specifically exactly what symptoms your birds have. How many birds do you have and how many have died so far? How long has this been going on? When did it start? Did you introduce any new birds to your flock without quarantining the new birds? What does the poop look like?

Let's try to find out what's wrong or point you in the right direction.
