They are absolutely STUNNING !!!!!!!!! Beautiful. I especially love the last picture of them all drinking from the pool. Awwwwwww, how sweet.
All I will say is that when your hens start laying and then become broody, you will have your hands full !!! I THOUGHT that I (dummy me) would regulate the number of ducklings that hatched but I guess I messed up the count. This is absolutely ridiculous over here.
I have recruited a friend that says he will clean as many of the males as possible and put them in the freezer for me. That's one good thing about having so many. I will have plenty of duck to eat.
Does anyone know where I can get some mirlitons to start growing. I dont even know if you start with a mirliton itself or a piece of vine or root or what.
Merlitons are male/female plants. You have to have both so they can cross pollenate(is that spelled right?) Some people have had luck with seeds, but haven't heard too many. Most times they end up growing a nice plant with no production.I'm figuring this is because of the dual plant neccesity...?It may be out of season now? Last place I found some was around Covington at a feed/seed store.

No big deal... We've just always listened to the old farmers. They always said you had to plant in pairs to have any luck with them.Guess the ole cajuns aren't always right...lol... We tried it and it seemed to work. Maybe it's just something with extra pollenation?...lol
