Next time I pray for rain,. I'm going to be specific about how much!

We got chickens doing the backstroke!

I think today is the last day of rain for a bit, unless I'm mistaken. I know we could use a few days for everything to get a little less muddy over here.

I really need to cut my grass. If it rains anymore, I won't be able to.

Yeah. My daughter and I were in the yard at about 4pm and everything was fine. I went out at 6pm to feed everyone and was missing a goose and 4 chickens. Looks like the goose had stuck her head out the fence and something grabbed her and pulled her through. The chickens were just gone. No scattered feathers or anything.

Do you have ANY idea what could have got them?

I'm assuming coyotes or wild dogs since it was daylight and obviously something big enough to carry off an Embden goose. Had to be multiples too, since several birds went missing. I listed everything this morning on craigslist. Hopefully I get them all sold and into good homes before they get eaten. My neighbor said he'd keep an eye out and my husband said he'll go looking around this weekend. Thats 4 days away though! I have the shotgun by the back door, but whatever is coming will probably be gone by the time I open the door to shoot.

Ok check this out since I have 4 eggs due to hatch this Thursday and 6 eggs due next Friday, today on lockdown for first batch I didnt want to put all 10 eggs on the screen and half to turn second batch by hand for a week I came up with this idea and wanted to share it with yall. I took out three egg turner trays and made a basket with 1/2 x 1/2 wire. Three inches tall that away the rest could continue to turn. What do yall think?

I'm new at this too... I just want to say that something got 2 of my chickens on July 4th, & July 5th. I came home to find roosters on top of the hen house, maybe 10 feet in the air. Two of them were in a field where I found a dead rooster. The next day when I came outside, much too my surprise, one of the roosters was outside the rooster pen. Have you gone out too see if maybe they scattered & found a tree or a hiding place? After seeing a goose get taken out. Also if something did, I would lean to a coyote or a fox. A beagle ate mine, I saw him. But he was more interested in the kill, and left the carcasses alone. A fox or something would carry it off. I've heard raccoons will too. Just a thought

Very good idea! I would maybe think about putting a piece of wire on the top of your little basket just so you don't have any escapees... just a suggestion

You think so? The sides are three inches tall I wouldn't think that in the short amount of time drying off that they could escape. Then you never know lol It sure wouldn't hurt just in case. Thanks
