I was so upset yesterday I let my 7 chickens out the coop. I learned a lesson Never NEVER EVER trust a Lab. I had her by the collar made her heal. Chickens where about 6 feet out in front of me. I let go of the collar and she made a b-line straight for them went for my Golden Pheonix then a PR. When I finally caught up to her I put her on a leash. All of them came running up to me and I just walked them back in the coop like nothing happend. But I lost sight in all the excitement of my favorite one my Pheonix. I search around the house, the shop the field next door couldnt find her. It was about 8 pm when this all traspired I new she would come back before dark to roost but still. Finally about 8:30 she came walking out the woods. So I got her back, just missing her to longest tail feathers.

On the gander, I just went along with what Cottage Rose told me. It's possible she could have made a mistake. You can have him dna tested if you wish. If not, I guess you'll have to wait and see if he/she lays an egg.

He sure is a BEAUTY! I sent off more feathers yesterday of two of my males and two of my females for the purpose of a "control sample" for dna testing. Previously, I was told by the dna specialists that they could not guarantee test results because they did not have Sebastopols in their database. I refused to pay $120 for dna testing and have the results not be reliable. Therefore, they informed me that if they could get samples from a known male and a known female then their testing would be accurate. Well it just so happened that I had a few known females and males available for sampling. So, I sent them MORE feathers. Hopefully I'll have results in a few days. I'll let you know what I find out.

Im in New Orleans and my neighbor got a rooster yesterday. My tennant said the crowing started at 4:30am. He said that isnt going to work. The rooster happens to roost right next to his bedroom window. Im wondering if there is anything I can do to help. Maybe the neighbor can keep him in the coop until daylight?
 
ATTENTION:

The price of feed is going up AGAIN. The local feed stores have flyers posted on their front doors, letting customers know that feed prices have increased.
