Can you post some pics of your cages?? Please!!

I will take some pics of them tomorrow for ya.I simply made them out of welded wire and hung them in the quail coop. They are 5' long,16"high, an 32" deep with a 4 inch tray on the front for the eggs to roll out.I hang it at about 2" drop from back to front,There are holes cut big enoeugh for the egg to fit,and that allows the eggs to easily roll to the front as they move around, without breaking. The top an sides are 1x2 welded wire an 1/2x1 on the bottom.Their was an automatic waterer in each one,and the feed was in troughs hung on the OUTSIDE of the cages. The wire is wide enough for the quail to fit their heads through and eat. They cannot scratch an dust in the feed, which is where 95% of ur waste comes from. Most of my wire pens are going to the wildlife center for rehab use.Got my dirt coming tomorrow!!

I'm so sorry Terri. I know that it was a hard thing to do, I believe I would have done the same thing!! I'm ready to get rid of a bunch of these here.

Good late morning! I was late getting out for my walk so late getting back & online, too. It was such a relief to get up & not have the stress of those roos weighing on me. I'm going to keep the young ones for now, but the first hint of aggression and they are history. I'm going back to my original plan of a small flock of laying hens & forget about all this breeding stuff.

One thing I've learned since I got out of that job is that I had no idea how much stress I was under. I've been dealing with creditors calling & all the woes of a business slowly going under for several years now & you'd think I would've had a clue, but no...not dummy me!

I am now sleeping straight through the night! no wide awake at 1, 2, 3 a.m. -- and my stomach issues have gone away -- no longer popping pepcid ac like M&Ms. And I drink lemonade every day this time of year - made with fresh lemons - so for sure I have enough acid in my stomach!

I know with aging parents (& me & Jim too)! & me the only child, I'll have enough stressful issues to face down the road, so I'm not going to borrow any extra ones at this age & stage in my life. Gee maybe I'm wising up finally!!!

Have a good one everybody!

Sounds like you're off to a new beginning. Change is good and so is living a peaceful and calm life without any stress or having any roos planning an attack on you.

Good wishes on your plan for a small flock. I know that you will enjoy that.

Good Morning!

By the way I think your idea was great!
I was permitted NWCO by the state last year (nuisance wildlife control operator) I ended up not doing nothing with it other than trapping in my own yard lol. But any way I had to pass a test and do alot of reading to pass that test I have some good online resources on nuisance animals. The most experiance I have is trapping coons. They like to eat the deer corn in my back yard way to much.

If they would let you create a link at the begining of the thread like you or someone else said that would be awesome. Easy for us to find. There is so many noligible people on here. I've learned so much from everyone.

Good thinking

I think that is an excellent idea. We could all benefit from that link. Maybe you can send the link to Whiskey Bay and we can post it on that #800 post and direct people to contact you if they have any questions about trapping and you will be able to help them.
