I feel for you whiskey! I'm glad I only have poodles.
I can't trust my silkies enough to let them out. They are just so stupid. It started pouring the other day and my silkies were in a small dog pen connected to the coop. I ran out side and there they were just squatting down getting blown around and rained on.
Okay I will wait to ship them until it gets a lot cooler. Im totally fine with waiting a couple month but I hope my buyer doesn't back out. That would be horrible! They seem real interested. Let's hope they don't get to impatient! Lord, please give us a cool front.

Can you contact the buyer to explain the heat situation and how you want to make sure your birds are as safe and healthy as possible when they are delivered? I think that he would appreciate the idea that you are a responsible and concerned owner and that you care enough about your silkies to try to wait until it gets cooler. If you ship in the heat, you stand the chance of them making it there but they could die during the shipment. Kinda better to be safe than sorry. Just a thought.
Has anyone heard of the Alexandria chicken swap/auction thingy? Are any of y'all goin?
edited, it didn't "highlight & quote" but maybe I got it to bold print...
I haven't heard a thing & I live here--- and still haven't found anybody who wants to give up free space for a swap -- more than happy if somebody found somebody who will!!!

Play it safe & wait until it's cooler here. Cargo holds are not temperature controlled on planes, so they are cold when they are way up high 30,000 feet in the air -- but they are also very, very hot when they are sitting on the tarmak or runways for several hours at a time. I used to work for an aircraft repair facility.
Thanks everyone for the shipping information! I appreciate it!
I have explained it to the buyer that is really hot here. I assured her that I will hold the silkies as long as I need to and not to worry about me selling them behind her back.
Actually, the chicken swap/auction thingy is in Shreveport. Isnt that around Alexandria? Or at least up north? LOL Im not good with northern Louisiana places. Its a little to far for me to travel to especially when there probably wont be any good silkie breeders there. I would love to just go and look though. If anyone goes, make sure to take pictures!
