to his family!! That's one of the reason why we try not to get out there and do anything during this heat!!

That is so sad!!

Mike, in the event that you may be interested in dna sexing your goslings, here is the website for the company I used. http://www.dnasexing.com/ It costs $20.00 per bird. I like it because now I can pair up my birds for next spring and can thin out my flock. Some people know how to vent sex and do that when the goslings are just a couple days old. I'm afraid that my eyes just don't see well enough for that so I have to pay someone to tell me what they are.

Hate to hear about everyone having trouble with the heat. I know 2x in the past month I had things
to do around here and at my daughters place and I ended up dehydrating. I thought I was drinking plenty
of water and gatorade but evidently not.(Had drank enough I thought my bladder would burst). I didn't know
it until my dad was having some heat related problems a few years back and our Dr. told him this, "For every
bottle of Gatorade or Powerade that a person drinks, you need to drink that much water." Don't depend on the
Gatorade or Powerade alone.
The last few days here hasn't been bad at all. We have been able to work on some pens all during the day.
My chickens finall will come out of the coops and runs and free range for as long as I let them. Before this week
it was so hot outside, that it was actually cooler for them to stay in the pens. I would let them out and before
long they would be panting. Put them back up and after a few minutes they would be fine.
As Twiley said all of us really need to be cautious. The heat will catch uo to you before you realize it a lot of times.

What are those birds? they are beautiful! I like the one in the 2nd pic best.

lol I think the supervisor was highly disapproving!

Good morning everybody. The Cockers were fussing to go out at 2:00 a.m. & there was a possum in their yard so we had a bit of dancing around, barking, hissing & screaming (me at them to leave it alone) I ought to know better than to mosey out there barefoot & gunless that time of night! Naturally it ran off & they spent the rest of the night begging to go back out every 15 minutes in case it came back.

You know you are a La. native when the grateful thought runs through your mind: "at least it wasn't a skunk"!

I'll move a trap around there tonight & see can I catch it.

We had a record high of 103 here yesterday & our sixth day in a row of triple digits & no end in sight; no rain either.
