Here ya go ma'am. My feeders aren't the prettiest but it gets the job done and there is no feed waste which is what I ultimately wanted. AND the most important thing, the materials used are recycled, so it costs me $0.00 to make these.

I also set the feeders on top of these square conrete thingys that is about 1 inch. I can't think of the name of them right now.

Sorta like a concrete paver. I do this so that the wood is preserved and that the wood doesn't rot out.

The first 2 wooden feeders were made from recycled pallet wood. They are 4 feet long and 5 feet long. The sides are high enough so that the chickens CANNOT flick out any feed. They can't get in to eat and scratch and they can't tip it over. Hurricane Katrina and Rita can't even tip over or move these feeders. And the chickens don't roost on top. I keep these feeders in my chicken yard so that all of the animals have buffet style feed available 24/7. The feeders can hold 5 gallons of feed in each one with the 5 foot feeder holding a little more, of course. They can be easily moved and they are not heavy. When I know that it will rain, I pick them up and place them under my raised coop so that the feed doesn't get wet. The animals know that they have to go under the raised coop to eat.

This is a feeder made from a large recycled PVC pipe. This is a VERY light weight feeder. This one also holds 5 gallons of feed. Again, absolutely NO waste at all. That's what I love about all of the feeders.

Hi peeps, its been a while. They been working my butt off so much at work that by the time I get home, feed birds, eat supper and watch tv I'm ready for bed every day.
Everything is good on my end not much new. I had got up to 34 birds, I got rid of six. I have to hens that have each layed 8 eggs and I'm waiting for them to start setting. I got pics of three coons last nite and big ole deer. Guess I'm gonna have to trap them over the weekend because they eat so much of my deer corn. Gonna be eatin some coon. I love having a kitchen at work so for we have cooked deer and sausage in a gravey, stuff ponce, beef tounge, and nutria sauce picante. Lol
Anyway, we don't have time to get online at work but I will try my best to get on more often.

Everythings good here. Slept most of the day (we had a helluva a night at work last night!) Had to get some housework done when I woke up. It was getting bad.

My birds seem like their settling down since the move but they will not lay in those nest boxes I spent so flipping much time on.

so I made another bin nest box today.

Have someone that wants to buy 2 of my laying hens and another wants some of my Speckled Sussex. Told her I'd only sell her 2 maybe. Not sure I'll sell any of the others. I'm just not getting enough eggs right now to sell.

Thanks Julie for posting those pics. Might have to give them a try.

Been moving! I just moved my shop birds to my in-laws' old coop. There's a lot of old poop in there, and my birds aren't vaccinated for anything, so I'm concerned about them catching a bug.
Tomorrow is the last day of moving, then I can focus on getting the new homestead shaped up to resemble something a chicken would live in.

We're finishing up with the last bits of "touch ups". Carpet will be installed within the next few days. I'll be setting up the kitchen and bath this weekend, and moving my washer and dryer. Next, I'll be moving my geese into our new dog kennel temporarily until I get pens for them.

So much to do and so little time! If it's true that one won't die as long as they have things to do -- then, I'm going to live forever!!!

Julie, those feeders are awesome! You are just too clever!

Missi, glad you got your birds situated. Sounds like you'll be moving a few birds. That's great! I have LOTS of young roosters that I need to process soon because they're just consuming way too much feed.

Whiskeybay, I think you got Julie's attention. That was just too funny!
