You're right, skinning is easier. That's how we did all of the ducks the last time. However it does take a little longer because because the ducks were huge. That price is still a bit high for me.

Skinning is far easier with ducks. If I wasn't working this weekend, I would go help you clean them. Cleaning ducks is something I am very good at, as I hunted them since I was 16 years old. I prefer to use strong poultry shears as the tool of choice when processing them. I would not pay more than $2.50 to have someone clean a duck. Its just too fast a process. Also when the duck is skinned and gutted, use a high pressure water hose to blast the lungs out of the carriage and to rinse the bird. It gets them super clean. I always freeze them in water. I always pile up the gizzards and clean them under a faucet. $1.00 per gizzard is insane. That should be part of the cost of the cleaning. Also I would want the hearts saved. I love those giblets.

Thanks for the offer. Maybe one day you can show me how to be as good as you. I'm slow, so I'm not good at it. I never thought about freezing them in water. How do you freeze them? What size freezer bags do you use. I tried using the gallon bags but they were too small. Do you know where I can get 2 gallon bags from? I'm like you, I keep all of the hearts, gizzards, etc. I love'em.

Missi...it truly was.I seriously thought NASA here's wind tunnel had malfunctioned and had a wide open door or something,lol.... It was outrageous!!! TS Lee didn't give us a show like this.We are still getting really good winds. Not as bad as last night, but still really strong.Isn't it wild how the winds just change direction all of a sudden like that? They were blowing one way yesterday just kinda cool. Then BAM! Freakin hurricane force and its CHILLEN...lol...The dogs were like what?

Morning Julie!! Sitting here warming up with my cup O green tea (went out and fed Steve)...lol...Now I'm trying to decide where I'm going to plant my garden this year since I've changed up the landscape...lol.It's all going to be in raised beds and it will have to be fenced off to itself for Steve, dog, and chickie protection. And I have to decide what all I want to plant.I love my fresh Veggies and they are getting sooo ridiculous in the stores.Besides the fact that we only have ONE freakin grocery store within a 30 mile range, and that's the "wonderful" walmart..... Where a cucumber costs a dollar! I didn't have much of a garden this year and I sure did feel it.So did the church.I usually send all my extras to them. I sure am going to now.... just a small one though...

Well,I'll be back later guys...

A cup O green tea sounds delish.

Kiss O'Stevo for me.

Veggies are too expensive in the store. It's a rip-off. Having your own is better. I love cucumbers, red onions for salads. I guess I need to come up wtih more veggies. My list of veggies suck.

That is wonderful!! Wish I had a place like that around here!!

Missi, put an ad on Craigslist and put on there that you are looking for pumpkins. You may be surprised. Someone may reply to your ad. That is how I found these pumpkins. A church replied to my ad. Craigslist is my best friend!!!! He gets me what I need.

Whatever you think you need, regardless of what it is, ALWAYS try Craigslist. Someone out there, believe it or not, may give you want you are looking for.

Yea, as long as I am able to process the smaller animals, I will. My OCD probably wouldn't allow me to take the smaller animals in to be processed. I would be afraid that I wouldn't be getting the animals that I brought it.

And where Mike is, don't you even say anything about my OCD. I know, I need help. I'm sure there is medicine for what I have.

Now see I don't see anything wrong with thinking like that I'd be the same way and I'll tell you why. We found out a place where alot of people that their deer meat to for sasuage was not necessarily getting their deer meat in that sasuage. They were basically weighing in and slapping it all together. Had some serious PO'ed people when they found that out!!

Ok, well, I don't feel bad. I thought that my OCD was on overdrive. I can go over-the-top sometimes with my sickness.

Yea, that's what I did the last time I processed some of the ducks. There was about 4 of us out there skinning. It was fun. Will probably do the same thing again.
