"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ok guys....I know ya'll wanted some of the cooler weather to come in...But who the heck ordered this freakin windstorm???!!!!! It must be 90 MPH winds outside!!!! I went out to give Steve water and turn the light on for my buttons and bout got blown over the fence. And I'm not exactly a lil twig anymore....lol...Tryin to drop the tarps around the stalls and they kept blowing up over the roof...lol...Think I may have lost a few chickens....Not to mention a dog or two?....Also think I just saw Toto fly by.... hmmmm?

I know there are definately minks over that way and this way.I see lots of them dead alongside old 90 and such....I wish I could have blamed my horrific number of losses on some unknown or wild predator. However it was weasels. My two girls weasel I mean weiner dogs. They are ruthless.I finally got everthing fixed so they no longer have access to the back by the chickens and such. When we moved the feed trailer to the side I found a huge dead wild rabbit they had killed.I had been smelling something and couldn't find it.Thought it was coming in on the wind from the woods or something. It was in a hole they had dug.A HUGE freakin wild rabbit. That made the second rabbit they took down.Along with a lot of my chickens before I caught them in action.I was blaming it on predators.

TBJumper When you get some Lavs up I may be interested in some.I have just a trio out of MANY eggs orders...lol.I think I'm going to concentrate on my English black and Lav Orps and BLRW and SLW.I will still have my Buff Orps,Silkies/Showgirls,and BCM.

Well...Night guys,I'm whupped.....

So sorry about your birds that stinks and becareful with ya guard doggy when ya get it catahoulas have hunting edge inbthem right ?? So may wanna keep it leashed until fully trust worthy because I still gotta keep tellin her to leave them because if they jump or flap their wings she gets excited so I keep an extra eye on her lol while my lab doesn't even notice or pay them any attention and they sleep on them lol

If you need a Lav roo,I have a couple extras!!!

I think I am going to just try to find a nice Black Orp Roo to put with them to improve their type. If you have black orp roos, let me know! And thanks for the offer!

Yes, they are excellent hunters and herders. Our old ones knew that chickens were off limits though, so it will learn right from the start that chickens are not to be touched, only guarded!

I believe I may have an black orp roo I might let go.I will check tomorrow.Cant remember if I have 2 or 3.I have Bernie which is my English fella who is staying here and I know I have Bennie.I will look and see if I still have one of the younger americans or possibly one of the younger English splits.

This is my man Bernie. He's a May baby and HUGE!!! I'm going to put him over my two Lav girls for a bit when they start laying and put the Lav roo over his sisters. That way I'll have two ways to go with them. Then take the splits back to the Lav roo.

Good morning everyone. I slept with my bedroom window open last night and it was nice and cool. I heard Apollo 13 (the geese) keeping up racket all night long. Felt like I had a baby monitor in the room with me because it sounded like they were right in my ear. I don't know what was going on with that crazy crew last night. I could feel the weather changing when I left work yesterday to go pick up some pumpkins (will post a pic this morning). Got home last night and one of the locks on the stupid gate would not open.

. Tried spraying some lubricator in the key hole of the lock but still nothing. Will work on it some more when I get off today. I was able to load up 20 pumpkins in the back of my SUV which is plenty for now. The guy said that I can stop by every 2-3 days to get free pumpkins until they are all gone. I cut a lot open and threw them out in the chicken yard, so the animals can chow down on them. I was thinking about keeping a few pumpkin seeds to plant. Just to experiment to see if they will grow.

Haven't stepped outside yet. Wonder why it feels like out there.

Hope everyone had a cozy night.

Julie, I do the same thing after Halloween. Hit Wal-Mart and get them for 25 - 50 cents depending on the size. Man those birds go to town on them!!

It was chilly & crisp out there at 4:15 this morning when I let!! It's still lovely out there!!

ETA: I sure hope you get you gate open!!
