Whats up all you Who Dat guys and gals that just happen to be chicken people too! Im a new-be to the world of chickens and just join this site the other night although I have been coming on here and reading threads for the last few months now. Im a Metairie guy that married a West Bank girl a few years back and together we have a 2-year old angle that we are trying to raise as a lil country girl on the North Shore. My wife and I are both horse people, in fact my wife is an Equine Vet that is trying to get her business established on the North Shore (Las horse country that is). Most all of her current customers are on the South Shore but she covers from Chalmette (and below) to Raceland over to LaPlace up to Hammond and then over to Slidell if any of you are looking or are in need of a vet. She will also take care of your barn dogs and cats while she is there if you need that done too. (Ok thats my plug for her but this is about me and my new hobby, lol right?)
Anyway, I currently own 23 birds and started out three months ago only wanting maybe 5, lol, things changed I guess! I have a mix of brown egg layers consisting of RIR, NH, BR, Black Stars, Buff Orpingtons and a couple Columbian Wyandottes. I also have two Amaracana Roos one 5 months old and the other 3 months old. My coop is just about finished with the exception of some minor trim work and nesting boxes and Im already thinking about making a few changes to it so I can better control things down the line when I build an incubator.
Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hey to everyone and I look forward to meeting and talking with you all down the road. Heck, may be one day I can do some horse trading, slash that, I mean chicken trading with some of you that live in my area.
Talk to you all soon,
Chris
