Now is a great time to plan for next Spring.

My plans next year are just to have layers for my egg business with only 1 roo per 10 -12 hens. No more than 100 baby chicks. I want 0 ducklings next year. And want to try to get about 50 - 75 broilers for the freezer. I'm trying to hold out for my pair of Alpacas next year, so I have to sacrifice in some departments.

Oh, and I can't forget my peas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA: Forgot ...... 2 hogs for the freezer.

Sounds like a plan! Once we get a place and set it up, I want to get some broilers to process too! We like to hunt and trap wild hogs...have one ready for the rotisserie for the Halloween party next weekend. Yummy!

Halloween party? Sounds FUN!!!!!!!!

The muscovies are pretty big so a half dozen would be plenty to start with. Im jealous that you have so many ducks to eat. If you were closer I would buy some meat from you. I miss eating duck gumbo. It is rare that you find duck for sale in the grocery store. I used to hunt them but its been years since I did that. Next Spring I will get some eggs from you to hatch some if you still have them. Thanks for the response.

Mike, I have a few muscovies, and a few pekin ducks that I bought this past spring. I also hope to have TOO many ducks next spring. I may have to take lessons from Julie.

I'm not the biggest sports fan there s... except when it comes to watching my son play & LSU football!! But, I've always supported all the teams from my area!! Maybe that's why I'm so big on LSU, it's not easy growing up in Baton Rouge, having a Lt. that played for them, having a husband and son that are huge fans and not be a fan. I support the Saints too but then again I'm not a big fan of the NFL!!

For me, I could never jump on anyone's band wagon for anything. I'm neutral all the way around. I guess it's not in my DNA.

As Missi said, I enjoy watching my nieces and nephews play sports and I support them and their team but that's about it. No band wagon rider here at all for NOTHING. I don't get it.

I am personal friends with several guys that played football for LSU and graduated from LSU but I still couldn't jump on the LSU band wagon when they played for LSU. I could always get free tickets IF I wanted to see them play but always refused the tickets. I had better things to do with my time. I personnally know 2 Saints players, whom the mother of one of them lives 5 houses down from me and I see him every time he comes to town. He comes over to say hi or I will drop in to tell him hi when I see him at his Mom's house, who is my friend (we went to Jr High and High School together). And the other one who I see a lot in the off season who we will grab a bite to eat during my lunch break when he is in Lafayette. I also personnally know 3 New York Yankees baseball players (1 who has retired and lives in Florida but is from LaPlace, LA. I have known him for 20 years) and 1 Atlanta Braves player who we keep in contact with regularly but still haven't jump on their team's band wagons but I do watch when the play. And I know several Dallas Cowboy players (current and retired) by way of meeting them through my sisters (and the players attend a lot of functions that my sisters have and I see them there and talk to them) but still no band wagon jumper.

Hey, that sounds like a saying to put on a t-shirt. "I'm no band wagon jumper."
lau.gif
Maybe I can add that to my collection of 1 t-shirt that reads, "I HATE LSU"!!!!!!!!!

I will exit the stage now. Thanks for the show. See ya'll next time. Be careful driving home. Ya'll have been a great crowd. Good night.

Hi Twiley!
Hubby is laid up with a broken leg -- broke his tibia in two places, slipped on a dog toy. Yes, after all the years we've had dogs & dog toys in the house!

So job search is sort of crippling along too right now, he has 4 more weeks before he gets a walking cast, & can't actually walk on that for 2 more weeks, so I am the resident chauffeur & go-fer right now...& believe me, there's a lot of "go-ferring" for me to do!!
