Lmbo Julie you know you need some of them purty silkies.

All kidding aside Julie I bet you could do money saving seminars. Alot of people would like to know the money saving tricks you know. Anywhere from building bird coops, sheds etc. for $20 or less

I currently have 10 that are about a month old, but the girls are holding out on me right now so not many eggs. We may have to start squeezing the silkies too!

Hey everyone! I've been so busy with work I haven't had much computer time lately, so I have been pretty absent from the thread. In light of the Chicken Expo that is going to be in Monroe, I have an idea. I cannot attend because I work every Saturday, and it is just too far for me to drive even though I would love to attend. So I would like to set up a Chicken Sale/Swap/Social Event in Covington, LA sometime in Mid-March, possibly the 11 or 18. I was thinking from 11 or 12-5, since some may be attending church in the morning. I have to do it on a Sunday since I work on Saturday. I am trying to see if there will be enough interest, so I can proceed with trying to find a location(maybe TSC) and start advertising to find people who want to participate. If there was enough interest and turnout, we could possibly turn it into a monthly or bi-monthly event.

So, who would be interested in attending? Anyone that would be interested in helping to organize? Any ideas or suggestions? Should I start a new thread for discussing this? Thanks!

I would be interested. TSC is 2 minutes from my place. I also use two different feed stores all close to TSC that I think would be interested in having something like this at their place as well.
Let me know what I can do to help.

Has anyone had bad luck with Little Giant Bators? Thats what I used all year last year and its a still air at that. All I had was a thermometer, I had no way of measureing humidty and I had something like 98% hatch rate. The two Hova-baters I borrow for this year have fans, I might try those for bators and use my Little Giant as a hatcher.

I have had some luck..and some failures.. The best advise That I can give you and it really applies to all incubators.. Turn your eggs, during lockdown leave them ALONE!...lol

BTW all... My oldest serama hatched one little chick. I knew she had an egg back there, but I thought it was not fertilized. She is the one that goes broody at the drop of a hat. I'll try to get a pic on tomorrow.
