"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Brinsea is hands down the best IMO, but be prepared to spend close to a grand on a cabinet incubator from them. If you just want to hatch something on a small scale, I recommend the Brinsea Octagon 20 eco. It's right at $100, and all you have to do is tilt the entire unit to the side a couple times a day if you don't want to spend the money on a turner. I can hatch about 10-11 goose eggs in it, and around 24 large chicken eggs if I leave the bars out.

I dry hatch all my eggs, and just fill the two reservoirs with water when I'm ready for lockdown. Super easy!

Yep I agree... I think I might order me another one soon. Thinking about hathcing some Speckled Sussex for the thing in April!!

I hate this rain. It's so depressing. Right now, I would rather have a coop full of silkies and show girls rather than deal with this rain. So, you know it's gotta be bad.

Thanks for the suggestions on the Brisnea everyone. Can you give me the number you called Terri?

Glad that you got rid of your roosters Missi. As far as the notifications, I have given up. It's terrible. I am having the same problem. It's a headache. Speaking of roosters Missi, there is a man in our area who is contacting people who are posting about free roosters and roosters for sale. He is taking the free roosters and turning around and selling them to make money. He is also buying roosters and selling them to people for more money than he paid for them. But I guess people don't have control over anything after their chickens are in the hands of someone else.

Wake me when the rain stops.

JEFF!!!!!! you can have my RIR roosters - I'll even bring them to you!!! when do you want them? I can't tell who's who yet-

Julie, I ordered my Brinsea (I assume that's what you're asking -- I'm at home on the old slow computer & can only see 1/2 of the screen here - other 1/2 is full of the scrolling stuff --
direct from them anyway, their website is www.brinsea.com & the phone is 888-667-7009 - I got the Octogan 20 Eco & auto-turner - they have a 2 year guarantee which is good. Mine was $99 on sale & the auto-turner was about 1/2 that - but boy it was worth it! - like I said, I got 100% hatch on the shipped RIR eggs!!!

as soon as we get our tax refund I'm getting a new home computer so hopefully these issues will resolve then. I know I can see the whole screen & everything's much faster on my work computer -- but don't have time during work to be here much!

What's funny is that he's actually finding people to buy them. Sure I would love to sell mine but mostly I just want them gone so I don;t have to feed them anymore!! But your right.. Can't really prevent people from doing that. I know there was a lady that kept posting that she would take all animals anyone didn't want she had a nice big farm and plenty of room blah blah blah... Well someone called her out after she posted one time basically saying that she was doing the same thing your guy over there is doing!!

I hate not getting the notifications!!

Well hell I’m bummed now…..

I just got up to go make my rounds, lock up and check on all the animals before I go take my shower and go to bed and found one of my Heritage RIR chicks dead. I hatched some really nice RIR’s a few weeks ago and out of 12 eggs 5 hatched. One died just hours after it hatched 2 died a week to 10 days later and these other 2 have been looking great and coming along well. I have 2 brooders in my utility/tool room, one full of bantams. (Silkies and such) and the other one, my big brooder, had 2 German NH’s and these 2 RIR’s in it. I’m in and out of that room all day long and so I check on them a number of times a day.

So I go in there to turn the lights off and find this one chick dead. All the other chicks look fine. She wasn’t torn up or anything so I don’t think that it was another animal so what the heck????? I’ve never had this many chicks die on me like this. I also have more of these eggs cooking right now in the bator and 7 out of 12 look real good. These eggs also come from a very respected breeder so I don’t think it any thing that came from his birds….so what the heck?

This sucks,
Chris

So sorry to hear about your loss Chris. It's always sad when we lose one. Fingers crossed that the rest will be ok.

Thank you. Where is the best place to buy the Brinsea? And do they have egg turners for Turkey and Goose eggs?

Yes the hatching will be on a small scale. Probably no more than 10 goose or turkey eggs at a time. The chickens and ducks are on their own. So, I assume they sell goose egg turners? The turkey eggs should be able to fit in those as well.

Yes Terri, that is what I was talking about. Thanks for the info.
