"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I'm just going to shop. I'm going to get some fresh fruit and veggies. Also will be looking for delicious canning items.

I wish I would have known... I could've met you there!! <sigh> Maybe I'm just trying to get out of cleaning wet, nasty, stinky coops tomorrow. We leave to go on vacation to Missouri Monday night so I have to try to get everything set up for my MIL to take care of everybody. With the 3 dogs, 3 individual coops, tractor and brooder she's going to have her hands full this time and with all the muck it won't make it any easier!!
I'm just praying that the rest of the weekend will NOT be like today!!

Hey there La-yers whats up did everybody get blowed away by that dreadful cold wind yesterday or what, been mighty quiet here lately on the byc for all ya'll cacklers and crowers (me included)LOL

Jeff

I took a little road trip yesterday and picked up some new birds to play with.....

These are all NH's from the Akers line. Three I had bought a few weeks back but I picked up 6 more yesterday from FL.

Well that's good Chris, looks like you are getting you quite a brood there, that's great. I too am up to 10 NHs now 5 pullets and 4 cockerels & one rooster. Even Steven, I guess that's a pretty good ratio. I sure should have a good chance of picking out 2 good breeding males I have one from the first group already picked, now to the second. Of course, I like all of them, so its gonna be another down to the wire time trying to choose another one and get rid of the rest.

How do to the rest of ya'll La-yers and BYCers.

The next time I go, I will give you a call. I had a great time at the Farmer's Market. I bought some goat milk, goat cheese, veggies& stuffed grape leaves. I also went to the produce market off of Perkins Road and bought more fruit, dehydrated fruit and granola. Anytime, you want to get out of cleaning and want to galavant on the town call me. I am ALWAYS trying to get out of working. :)

Ok, I finally, (well not me but someone else) set up the incubator. The instructions were followed and everything seemed to be ok. Temps were steady. When I woke up at 2:00 AM (my usual wake up time to go to the bathroom (TMI- too much information)), I checked the temps and it had spiked to 101 degrees. I adjusted it a couple times until it was the right temp. I hope that the temp spikes don't happen to often. I'm getting nervous now.

Jeff,
These are just the NH's I pick up here recently. I have 4 from the same line that I hatched from eggs that came from Banjoe. So right now I have 6 pullets and 7 roos between the ages of 6-months and 6-weeks. I'm also getting 10 NH chicks from Matt1616 at the end of the month. I plan on keeping 1 of the 5 males from Banjoe, 1 of the males from the NH's that came from Luanne and one of the males that I get from Matt. I'll most likely go through all the pullets and only keep 6 or 9 of them....everything else will be sold.

At the end of the month I'm also getting 10 BR chicks (Jeremy's line) from Matt. Luanne had a trio that she had gotten from Kathy and holy cow were they some huge birds. I told Matt that I wanted RIR (the Mohalk line) from him but he won't have them for me for at least another couple of months. I need more pens anyway, lol!!!

Once you get it dialed in, you shouldn't have any more spikes.
