"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

What's going on with your turkeys Mike? That's odd that they haven't started laying yet. I got turkey eggs all over the place . I even have ducks sitting on turkey eggs.

My last turkey hen has decided to go broody but she stole some goose eggs. It's a mad house over at my place.

Hey Julie... What kind of turkeys do you have??

I have Bourbon Red turkeys.

good mornin' there La-yers and Byc-ers too

Hope everybody is in for a good weekend on here.
I did get part of my gardening done yesterday and "taters" planted and the rain held off till I got it done, Still holding now so I might get a chance to get some other stuff in the ground this weekend maybe while the gettins' good. If it rains the least little bit I'll be weeks behind again ,it just take for so long to dry out here, I just hope I'm not wishing it all gone all of the sudden though, Oh well, if it does huh? Anyway good day to all, hope ya'll the best of times this weekend.

Jeff

I can't wait to get started on my garden. :)

Hi yall! I'm Heather, and I am new here. I decided to go ahead and start raising chickens. I have my plan for the coop and hubs is as on board as he is going to get. I do have a couple questions though. I'm really afraid I will kill the baby chicks if I get day olds, and think it might be better to get them about 6-8 weeks old. Not already laying, just past the brooder stage. Do people sell them like this? Are they more costly? If they do sell them, where?

Hi Heather!! Welcome to BYC and welcome to the La-yer thread. Yes, people will sell you any age. You just have to check around and find someone who sells them. I think prices vary.

Good Luck~!

Nice have 4 in mine now hoping are fertile :)

Kuntrygirl, I'll be packing heat too! My husband and I just completed a "conceal carry" course and I've been certified. I also have my coyote rifle ready for those varmits.

Good to see you Twiley !!!!!!!

You are DEFINITELY packing heat. With my little pellet rifle, I"m only packing warmth. :gig

Can't wait to see your new coops and pens.:pop

Good morning ya'll!!!

Was a pretty weekend. I cleaned the chicken house and all of the nesting boxes. Got rid of all the old hay, sprinkled Sevin Dust and put new hay in. It took me a few hours but the girls were happy.

My muscovy duck hatched a turkey this weekend. I'm happy about that. So, I"m up to 10 baby turkeys. :weee

My broody turkey hens are still setting on turkey eggs. I have some goose eggs under a muscovy duck and a goose egg under a turkey. I'm curious to see if the goose eggs hatch. Now if I can just get the ladies to set on their on goose eggs.

I think the 10 turkey eggs in the incubator have about had it. NOTHING HATCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so upset. But I kinda expected that to happen. I have no idea what happened. This is why I am NOT liking incubators. I should have left the incubating to the professionals - - - - > MY HENS. I'll try 1 more time to incubate some goose eggs and then I"m done. I'll sell it or lock it away to never use it again.

Have a great day ya'll !!!! :frow

Hey guys and gals! Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

I just wanted to post a pic of the new member of our zoo…I mean family! I told my wife after My lab died last year and when my Rottweiler passes (she was 13yrs old) that I wanted to get me a lap dog. A dog that could travel easy and not make these huge land mines all over the yard. Anyway, this is what she came up with…..

He is only 10 weeks old and a whole 3+ pounds. We named him Charlie! I don’t know why we named him Charlie but my wife and 2yr old liked it so I was out voted. He is a Teddy Roosevelt Terrier or basically a Rat Terrier with short legs. AKC refers to them as Rat Terrier type B.
